This car is raising my expectations of the new M3 that's for sure. BMW has the chance to deliver a knock out so hopefully the don't screw it up... Thanks! The sooner the better |

I am turned off by the orange peel too. Those measurements are scary though.

Car is looking amazing with very tasteful mods. Curious now that you've had it for a bit - How does it compare to the M? Fun Factor, Driveability, Performance? Is there an improvement with the larger wheels and upgraded suspension?

From a daily driver perspective the car is fantastic. Far more comfortable than the M. My big complaint with the F30 is the steering feel. Numb, numb, numb. Switching to aftermarket wheels with super sports in a thinner sidewall helped, but the whole thing feels absurdly artificial. It is precise enough for a non M, but you wouldn't have any idea of what the car was doing if you were blindfolded. The 'heavy feel' feels programmed if that makes sense. You go into a turn and all of a sudden the steering ramps up into a heavy to turn situation. No road feel whatsoever, just subtle vibrations in the wheel to let you know the road surface changed. The e70 I have has better road feel in the wheel than this F30 does. The performance and fun are still there just extremely muted.

Gotcha. Have you got your JB tune in yet? I hear what you're saying about the handling but what about performance/power wise compared to the M? Huge difference?

On my M I never got around to the power mods so it was basically stock in that regards. As such the F30 definietly feels faster but whether or not that is due to the onslaught of torque from the beginning of the range I can't say. It is a heck of a lot easier to get power out of her compared to the e46. Mid range is excellent. Just stab the pedal and pass. With the e46 I had to be above 6000 rpm to get that type of response. I have the challenge downpipe w/hfc and exhaust on order and for software I'm still debating on whether to go oem upgrade with the ppk or a piggyback like JB. Heck I might even combine them just to see lol... The only thing remotely holding me back on the piggyback is the car is a lease so I don't really want to jeopardize the engine warranty on it. People say all I need to do is get the can code clearer, remove the piggyback, and clear the codes. This is my first 'performance' turbo car so this software stuff is new to me when it comes to power adding by a simple plug in affair. Especially when I'm used to how little power is to be had modding the s54. Still the ability to get almost 350 torques to the wheels by plugging something in is an awesome thought. There I go talking myself into it. To purchase today or not to purchase today, that is the question... |

Yea, the ONLY thing about the CAN code clearer is that they said that its not gauranteed to work on the F30 - yet. Works fine on the e9x. I would probably wait until they know it works for sure before taking it into the dealer but a member on here said that they have done it already with no problems at the dealer... Definitely go w/ the JB over the ppk!

No as I don't care for them. No matter how good of job or material it is, you can still tell it's there. Not clean enough for me.

I'm waiting for their downpipe and exhaust to arrive first. Then my friend, who is a pro mechanic, and I will be installing them together with the exhaust. He has a lift at his house so it shouldn't be too bad in theory...

No but they dust like their life depends on it. I have yet to see something dust more than this kit. It's mind boggling the amount of brake dust it produces.
