I use Torque Pro to monitor EGTs. The OBDII equation for that is PID 178, equation (((((B*256)+C)/10)-40)*1.8)+32. This is a generic PID, so any OBDII device should be able to read that. Most programs should be able to accommodate the math in there that converts it to fahrenheit too.

Now I just need a Windows PC so I can get the file off and over to the guys at KermaTDI... hopefully tomorrow.

Downloading the file from the car to the Q Pro unit took about a minute. The guys at Kerma turned it around super quick... it took about 20 minutes to write the tune back to the car. During the write, there were warnings about chassis stabilization, transmission, brakes... not unexpected given what was going on. Once complete though the car started just fine with no errors. I just took it around the block to make sure things were fine... I had a big smile on my face. Looking forward to driving more the next few days and getting to know it better. First impression is very positive - ITS ALIIIIVE. More to come!

I was traveling a bit and didn’t get to drive much in the past week... but after some more time behind the wheel, I can’t say enough how happy I am with the results. Really, kudos to the KermaTDI team. So far no issues - just more power, more fun, no regrets.

Been ridiculously slammed lately...but I'm going on a few weeks with the tune. Can't say how happy I am with it. Consistently running about 4mpg (calculated) higher, and I drive the car harder now than I ever have before. I was a little shocked yesterday when my DEF warning came on. I'm only 4k into my oil change. lol. Usually it lasts change to change. I've got 6K miles left. Oh well....filled it when I got home. lol. Wouldn't change it for anything.

Best part is you don't have to be out of ECO PRO to have any fun. It's such a different car now.

I saw that they are working on a tune for the 335d. Watching vids on line of other tuners making the 335d a beast, I can only imagine this version....

I'm hoping that they have a tune for the 540d by the time I get one.

Cool Not as smooth as hoped

I just picked up my Kerma TDI QPro+ box today to put the tune on my 2016 328d. I tried to follow the instructions and got a message that says ECU Not Supported. It gave me a flashback to your post, so hopefully tomorrow brings some reasonable responses from Kerma to get this quickly resolved.

Though they did update the sticker. It's all fancy now since it says 328d on it.

I think you have one of the 328d that fell between the transition from the older ecu to the new one.

I would contact Kerma directly. They're really good with followup from what I've seen.

MY2016 = LCI = new DDE not supported by Q-Pro. The LCI DDE (13618588425) was cut in on builds 7/2015 and later.

I have an LCI too and had to send my DDE in to be flashed.

Sure enough. I just talked to Chris and the QPro doesn't work with 2016. If I want the tune I have to pull the ECU. that means I'll have to do without my car for probably a week. It also means I can't set it back to factory if I have to take it in. And mine is a CPO so I have 2 years of warranty. Well hell. I'll have to think about this for a bit.

Total down time for me was 4 days (shipped out M, received Th). I've had a flash tune for more of my warranty period than not, and over multiple dealer visits it's never been an issue (even to replace stuff under warranty like injectors). I've just always asked for no SW update.

The benefit to bench flash is that it isn't traceable through a dealership's computer at all.

I'm eyeballing the Kerma tune as well, but do not want to jeopardize my drive train warranty. So if I brought the car in for service for a covered item, the dealer could tell even if the tune was returned to stock?

BTW, the tuner itself looks nearly identical to the one I have for my Ram EcoDiesel from SCT. Would be funny if it was the same hardware inside that just needs reflashed firmware to work with the 328d.
