What psi are you guys running the Michelin tires? Looking for the best psi to put in when the tires are cold for the best grip all around. I think right now I have the OEM psi set.

I'm on PS4S and now have to think about stiffer springs. Stock springs were great with run-flats but now its too soft.

Test Drove a new 2019 430I and the run flats suck, hard and noisy.
I was thinking of the same tire swap.

As far as getting a flat...I'm 61 and have had to change a tire once in all the years of driving. Probably a better chance of an accident than getting a flat.

I have MPS4S’s as well, love them. One word of caution - these are summer tires and become like bricks when the temps near freezing. I took my car on a road trip a few weeks ago and stayed overnight in Prescott AZ, the morning temps were in the high twenties. I was amazed at how hard the tires became, with very little traction until they warmed up and the temps got into the 40’s.

Also, successive exposure to freezing temps can actually damage the tires.

My currently stock 340i spins for a couple seconds with launch control. It came with 19" wheels and the run-flat tires. If I swap over to PS4S that fit my factory 19" wheels will I actually get noticeable better traction during launch? I was going to do a power upgrade until I realized my newish rwd 340i has little to no traction already.

Oh dude yes, when I used to have RFTs I felt the rubber on my tires compared to my father's MPSS.

His felt like an eraser where mine felt like they were slippery

And besides feeling the tires with my hand, yes there's tons of lateral and forward grip my dude

Pretty much the same thing you do with run-flats.

If you actually drive the run-flat tire with no pressure, it destroys the sidewall, so you get to buy 2 or 4 new tires, depending on if you are AWD and your treadware.

If you could seal it with sealant, then you didn't need the run-flat. Modern tires are very strong and the rubber will tend to "self seal" many things.

It's a scam IME, to get more money out of you with the factory approved tires. If you truly drive on long deserted stretches, the biggest problem would be a random blowout or damaged wheel. Very rare with modern steel-belted tires, but if you can't easily seal it, it's probably some kind of catastrophic failure, where you would need a spare, not run-flats. They make kits for this.

The car and tire companies play on people's "spare tire anxiety".

I too got rid of the run-flats and got some wider p-zeros. They were much better in all respects. One day I did get a flat and I just put some sealant in there and drove it to the tire shop to have a plug put in. Life is too short to not experience good tires.

If my car was just for fun then yea I would switch. But I commute mostly and I don't want to be sitting on the side of the road waiting for AAA with the wife and baby in the car etc.
I see a lot of M cars sitting on the side of the freeway. Sometimes I want to stop and help because BIMMER BROS but sorry dude I'm late for work.

I used to run Bridgestone RE01R's on my Subi Sti. Really sticky summer perfo tyres. Those things were constantly picking up screws and nails. I quit driving down alleys in it. Had like 3 flats in 3 months. But at least the Sti has a nice lightweight spare.
I'm not saying the michelins are going to be that was as Michelins are the best tires in the world....fact.

I agree with your point and understand. But remember it's anecdotal to say you see a lot of M cars on the side of the freeway.

I'm in Miami and I've never seen one M car on the side broken down and I commute every day.

I could not agree more.

I just did the same last week, and the car is SO much better. It's transformed the handling, especially in the wet. And very similar experience as the OP.

My car came with Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT and they were terrible in every regard, but especially in the rain when they were frankly frightening. I had I could barely use Sport+. When the rear lost traction, it just fished tailed out with no warning and was not very controlable, to the point I had little confidence and wouldn't dare put it in S+.

If I had tried to drive it as aggressively as this in near freezing temps and wet/greesy roads in Sport+ with the Bridgestones, I'd have crashed, see:
