I finally got them mounted about a week after the last track day of the year for me, so no track report as yet. But I can tell from driving on the street that this setup will be better than staggered...much less understeer; I like it a lot so far.

My 245mm Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s are significantly wider on my 9" Apex wheels than the 255mm Contis are on the OEM 8.5" 400M wheels, so I don't see there being any compromise in rear end grip.
