What's the latest on the 3G shutdown. My 2014 F30 with Connected Drive gave me an alert "Emergency call malfunction" yesterday which I assumed was caused by the 3G shutdown in Canada. But after driving for a bit the alert disappeared.

Any thoughts what could be going on. Is there sporadic 3G service still here. I'm in the GTA Toronto area.

I've had no such messages in the last few weeks - MY 2017 GT. I'm still able to connect through MyBMW app to check on the status of the car (fuel level and etc). Afaik the most of the telematic services expire 6 years after the car was registered on the road first time. My wife's 2015 335i did not have any similar message either.

Afaik Rogers is decommissioning the 3G in individual areas... For example. west Mississauga 3G was shutting down between September 24 and October 9. Other areas of GTA could be shutting down at a different time frames. Certainly it sounded like the plug was not pulled simultaneously on the whole Rogers network, but in segments.

I'm on the border of Oakville in West Mississsauga so perhaps Rogers 3G is impacted here or maybe the battery in the telematics unit is dying. it sounds like we're on borrowed time either way. I'm thinking we'll have to code out this message soon. If its the battery its probably not worth replacing if the service is being pulled.

Will wait to see if I get the same message in either of my cars. Will keep an eye on my dad's 2013 F10 as well.
