You don't even have to pull the ebrake...with foot on the brake, just turn the car off and it goes into park automatically.

Correct. I use this method 99% of the time. Have almost never used “Park” button in years of BMW Ownership.

I know those shifters don't come with the 'park' button but maybe there's a way to tap into the lower button on the shifter itself? Maybe a retrofit plug for the park button can be done?

This is the shifter I saw and it has that button in the bottom that maybe we can figure out to tap into to make the park button work. Or am I completely wrong lol

What does the 330e use the button for?

Look closely at images in first link and you can see section of shifter frame that would need removal/modification to fit in F3x/F4x center console, though it appears it could most likely be cut off on both sides.

I was able to find a DCT shifter for under a 100 bucks so I gave this a try on my 2013 BMW 328I N20 Sport.

It works!!
Im able to shift into all gears. I can get park when in drive by pressing the Start/Stop button.

But there is only one issue. At startup or at a full stop the message "Not possible to change gear position" appears.

Seems some coding will be the next step.

I might be being dumb here, but surely can't you just split open the pre-existing shifter and follow the circuit for the park button, then wire it up the same as to the gearbox button on the DCT shifter? My only worry would be matching the functionality of the different modes (manual, reverse, neutral etc)

So the issue is just with the error message?

I'm seriously debating on doing this. I can't stand the F30 shifter.

Correct, just the warning messages. I think the main issue is the unlock button on the stock shifter missing on the DCT shifter. But stepping on the brake unlocks the DCT shifter from park.

Maybe if just the FEM was coded to DTC, and not the ICM or the KOMBI then it would ignore the missing unlock button and suppress the message.

Any ESYS experts out there? I love the feel and way this DCT shifts.

Ok any issues switching from drive to reverse and vice versa since there is no unlock button ?

Zero problems but the error message. Shifter fully unlocks once the car is on and the brake is pressed.

Obviously you have never opened up a BMW Shifter.

Does the DCT need to be from a F chassis or can it be any?

You need to be more precise than that unless you are planning to do major surgery.

would the shifter from an E9x or E6x M car work by any chance? As they are much cheaper on eBay

Has to be from an F Chassis or it wont mount correctly also the Clutch adjust button is located on the trim in a F chassis and on the shifter in a E chassis.
