Pricing - BMW Connected Drive

My free three years of Connected services will be coming to an end later this year and I was trying to get an idea how much it costs to renew... but the BMW web site isn't much help as I cannot get a price because my current service is live...

Anybody got any recent info...?

I know there was some advice to wait until Black Friday deals at one time, are they still doing this..?

Most of the services I use seem to be activated for life, when I check, on my profile... TBH, if it's just basically map updates and RTTI that will fall off, then I might be best using the CarPlay for Waze or TomTom...

The one thing I would not want to lose access to are the Remote Services (from the app) as I tend to use them a lot... But my dashboard on BMW website seems to suggest I have the remote services for life...

Wait for Black Friday.
My experience is that your subscription will run for another 3 months anyway.

Use Waze!

I think, of the things I actually use, if it's just the RTTI and Map Updates that drop (I never use the online stuff like weather and concierge etc) then I'll just use CarPlay...

I'll have to have a think if it also drops the remote services, as I do use them...

... and, yeah, mine is showing that it'll cut off at approx three years and three months after build...

I have a TomTom sub as I find I prefer that to Waze when I am travelling and it's not all that expensive... £20 a year, IIRC, for worldwide... including traffic/speed cameras where allowed...

My connected drive services renewal was £69, check the app, it'll tell you what features you can buy for your car.

This is the first year, in the past 7 years with this car, that I've not renewed the service as the send to car feature no longer works. Well it does work, but the directions come through to the car typically one or two days after I made the journey.

Mine is a 2018 M3 and the ConnectedDrive store today shows £79 for the pack that includes RTTI and a separate £79 for Map Updates. Historically I’ve always had all these services as typically change cars between 3 &4 years but there’s nothing I’ve wanted to change my M3 and I’m now only doing around 10k/year so am keeping it probably for a total of 9 years… What I decided when the initial services expired is that I should just get Carplay (which I hadn’t specced on the car as always preferred the BMW maps/RTTI/Send to Car). I bought that on BF and saved about £100 compared to speccing as an option. Historically all the services have always been discounted on BF. I decided I should just get used to using Carplay and not waste money on a subscription… I now only miss BMW services when I am leaving a place with no signal and am left without any nav for a bit - other than that I’m happy with it…

I did the Connected booster pack when mine expired, although it's anual was (£96) I though it was worth it, although will review on renewal.

This is what was included for mine - it should read News where the banner is (not sure how that happened!)

It is hard to keep track of the way they keep changing the services and what you need to pay for. I know my son’s G29 doesn’t give fuel/milage updates to MyBMW app without paying for an annual pack where on my F80 that is just included for life…

I am lucky in that mine came with CarPlay for life, and so I can swap easily to TomTom or Waze or even Apple Maps for Nav and traffic... and then wait and see what BF brings if I don't fancy the prices when they are first given to me...

I hangs a TomTom sub on the phone (for travelling) so as that downloads maps I'd be OK out of signal mainly...

I think they are moving more to the cars being prepared for add-on services that you can buy from the app afterwards... Basically lots of stuff that does not impact the emissions rating of the car for type approval...

Somebody I know is buying a BMW at the mo and I was looking on the configurator and noticed something that was "Prep For" on the options that was basically something you could then add from the app (for ££) after...
