I just installed the rennline phone mount on my F30 335i (2015) as seen on Kies Motorsports and Thicc Whips yt channels. W this large gap, it seems like something has to be wrong - but when I try to re align/ re install it, I always get the same result. I double checked the parts number and see that I did indeed order the correct part for my car. Is the gap between the head unit and the dash trim supposed to be this bad after install?

I don't think mine is nearly that bad. I'll have to snap a pic and report back. I've had mine installed for nearly a year and O love it because it is pretty seemless. If mine was sticking out like that I think I would have noticed. I've also installed mine twice and didnt notice this (had to remove and reinstall when installing an MMI box for AA).

It has been discussed previously on F80's: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1641433

I wouldn't expect a design like this to be flush.

Maybe pre LCI doesn't sit as flush. My car is LCI and doesn't poke out that far.

Did you ever find a solution? I just installed mine (with the LCI radio trim) and I have about the same gap. I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled it several times with no solution

They might be designed as such, as to not create wear points on the dash pad 🤫

The phone mount is preventing the trim panel from fully seating. The way that mount is designed it's inevitable.

No solution unfortunately. It’s just a sh1tty fit. They even sent me a replacement to try it out and it had the exact same fit. Still, I can’t see the gap from the drivers side and it’s better than any other phone mount. Only other gripe I have is that the Philips screw behind the magnet keeps coming lose which lets the phone spin around on the magnet. I’ll probably loctite it to resolve.

Yea I figured as much. I took mine off and put it back on about 5x and gave up lol but you’re right, the mount is better than any other out there. I try not to pay any kind to the gap, it just drives my ocd crazy knowing it’s there haha

have a slight gap but never see it, even when i’m in passenger seat, i do notice some people have a significantly bigger gap than mine and some seem to have no gap. when i did dash modifications for my x5 10 inch display, the cutting template didn’t match my dash at all, also didn’t match other people’s picture of their cutting modifications. i have a feeling every dash is slightly different, and that’s why gaps for rennline mounts are all different

Yeah I have to retighten the screw every few months when it comes loose.

It is a great mount the floating look is great plus sticky panel/glass mount or vent mount alternatives suck.

The mount with a Magsafe style charger = win
