Compare the way they were launched, & u'll see the 328i could be a bit faster. The driver in the 335i launched the car using a bit of brake-torque (plus DSC off) whereas the 328i was just a simple brake off then floor throttle (with DSC on).

I would like to see how much faster the E92 M3 is compared to the new F30 335i. If it's close then I think I might just settle for the new 335i.

0-250kmh for the 335i is in about 35 seconds. My N54 did that in 32/33 seconds as I recall.
There is some flat road(highway) around here where we can do that stuff (more than)sometimes.

My ex E90 M3 did that in >25/26 seconds or so, don't remember.

The N20 needs 17 seconds more than the N55 to do that, looking at that video.

Need some F30 owners to race. Set up a good old fashioned drag race
Now I'm pondering the squirrel engine...the difference just doesn't look like much at all. Guess I'll have to go back to the dealer and drive a 328i (I had vowed not to after driving a E90 328i, but this video is enough to make me reconsider my bias.)

Up until abt 140-160km/h the difference is not that big, after that there's a noticeable difference. This is as expected.
As I said before, the driver of the 328i did not use brake-torque to launch the car, hence it can be quicker.

Those are good numbers but I'll ask you this...Was your N54 stock and have you ever been in a tuned and modified N54 with Methanol Injection doing 0-250? It's probably another 4-5 seconds quicker than that M3 and the modifications to do so only cost about $2,000 USD...

In everyday driving conditions the 328i is just as fast as the 335i!

Yes, I agree ! It is very clear that at the start the 335 was at 1600 RPM and the 328 at 700 RPM ; ) . So the question is:

***Why this person makes a test like this?

friend just calculated this, but since options and standard features are different for 335 and 328, if you were to build the car with same options difference between the two is only $4100. for that money id get 335

Only $4100,00 difference? Great !!! Here in Mexico BMW imports only one version of the Modern Line, one version of the Luxury Line and one version of the Sport Line. The Sport Line is at $45,000,00 USD (with a lot of adds) and the only one version that I saw here for the 335 was at $62,000,00 USD (also with a lot of adds). So, as you can see, here we have a lot of difference in price ($17,000,00 USD) : )

I think the French guy is trying to show what can be achieved everyday with a 328i driven by a person with no special skills.

Same here. A 335i is 45% more expensive than a 328i.

I'd estimate the 328i is ~20% slower to 100km p/h ranging to ~32% @ 200 km p/h. Really not a lot considering both the purchase price & fuel cost benefits. Pretty impressive! How often are folk ever going over 200 km p/h? Tough even on the track. Autobahn's only.
