Thumbs up monkiboy's 340 build thread

hi folks. through the years i've found having a build thread helpful but have never started them from the very beginning. so, this is my attempt at a more diligent effort with photography and video updates.

i ordered a 2017 340i xdrive in march, 2017 and i'll keep track of progress here of delivery as well as i've found it helpful in curbing the anticipation reading about others dates and trying to estimate my own.

03.10 ordered vehicle
03.12 went into production, VIN provided and production number
03.27 finished production
03.28 transported to port of exit and waiting on shipping assignment
04.05 vessel assigned and shipped aboard "tamerlane"
04.17 estimated arrival @ VPC in Baltimore, actual 04.18
04.30 estimated arrival @ dealership

here are the details of my order:
2017 340i xDrive
Black Dakota Leather with Dark Oyster highlight
Estoril Blue Metallic exterior
19" style 442 M Orbit Grey wheels

Packages:
Cold Weather Package
Driving Assistance Package
Lighting Package
M Sport Package
Technology Package
Track Handling Package

Options:
BMW M Performance Power and Sound Kit (MPPSK)
Carbon Fiber Tips for MPPSK
Side and Top View Cameras
Black Kidney Grilles

for my own reference:
Money Factor: 0.00071 / 1.70% (base .0014 - corp - MSDs)
RV: 62% (march 2017)

Great build. But looks like that's a lease, correct? Gonna undo all those mods when lease ends? Or plan on keeping?

thanks, sir. great point. yes, a lease. so, you're exactly right, one needs to plan accordingly. will not be keeping at lease end. i do a majority of the work on my and our family cars myself. i have the tools and space so as long as labor isn't too consuming or frustrating, it should work out fine.

the power trunk likely won't happen but still looking into it.

the wheels and tires i plan to buy immediately so upon receipt i can swap the 442M and tires out, saving them for lease return or interim use in an emergency or something have something to swap to. i don't want to have to think about purchasing a used runflat setup for return and the 437M setup if i buy at a good deal can likely break even selling back.

the dyno/tune is a huge value add and i'm sure i can find some way to negotiate cheap/free labor or some sort of discount.

everything else is just about finding good deals or partnership arrangements or sponsorship or beta testing opportunities to make resell profitable or breaking even at end of lease.

i forgot to mention, i'm coming from an 08 subaru wrx that had ten of thousands put into it by some of the best of best in the industry as a daily driver mostly with autox and track events sprinkled in. i know i don't want to go into the deep end of modding like that last build but definitely want to make this one my own in a much MUCH more subdued way.

this is nadia - she's actually for sale too! if you know anyone interested i'm happy to offer a $400 commission to the person who provides a buyer.

Welcome! Nice to see another local. Love your WRX build, I remember going through your thread on Nasioc (I sold my 2013 WRX hatch to get into my F30).

Initially I was told it could sit at the port for up to a week, then it takes on avg 10-14 days to ship across the Atlantic, but general consensus on the board here seems to be 2-3 weeks on the water for German builds. I'm hoping this is just a fluke but have been in close contact w/ the dealer to make sure everything was still good.

I just ordered a $63,340MSRP 340ix build myself. It's in production with anticipated end of April delivery.

Mind if I ask what your MSRP and payment is?

Mine sat at port for just under a month around this time in 2013.

i know there was a thread about production timelines but i cannot find it anymore. i'll be some more searching for it to get acquainted. my dealer seems aloof to this process and a lot of the intricacies of building a car despite being one of the dealers with the most sales in the mid-atlantic which is curious.

Build date was March 13th and I finally took delivery May 5th iirc.

However, it was built as I wanted...and I used the delay to get the price down more...so I would wait for what you wanted.

But I can see now why no hurry to get mods.
