My tire blew up, what should i be looking for in terms of damage?
I drove over a pothole this morning, and my tire completely blew up. I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+.
I'm aware that the tire manufacturer's warranty does not cover pothole damage. I'm hesitant at using my insurance at the risk of having my premium go up. So I will be paying out of pocket, and trying to file a claim against the city. I got the tires replaced this past spring, and have about 6,000 miles/10,000 km on them. Since they're still kinda new, I'm just going to replace that one tire. My question, what kind of damage should I be looking for? Rims Steering rack Struts Steering wheel recalibrated Anything else? Damn that sucks man!
I would just buy the new tire and have the tire shop check the rim for any bends when replacing the tire and then do an alignment check. Not sure about suspension or steering aspects. |

None of the listed damages. I ran up onto some curbing and trashed my AS3+ just a couple weeks ago. Costco replaced it for free (yay). Get an alignment and you should be golden.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking worst case scenario. Had the tire replaced and the wheels re-balanced, and I was fine!
