Need your opinion on front lip kit
I am looking to get a front lip kit done on my 18 340i (black). Debating wether I should go for the glossy black or just the primed one. I want it to look as flush as possible.
I have attached pictures. 1st one is the primed lip not painted. Second picture is the glossy one and third is the way I want the lip to look. My car is colour is sapphire black. |

The third one is the standard black plastic. So if thats the look you're going for I'd get that one.

Depends on what kind of look you're going for and maybe also your current color.
For example, I had my front lip and rear diffuser painted gloss black to match some of the surrounding bits (window/door trim, gloss black kidney grills, etc.) and I felt the gloss black worked better with Glacier Silver. As mentioned before, the third picture looks to be just the standard plastic with no paint. That would lead to it standing out a little more from your current black car.

I have the gloss black on my car and it looks nice. Not flashy. And you drive a gloss black car, so it wouldn't contrast much other than the metallic aspect of your paint.

Casting my vote in for glossy! I'm on my third lip so try not to get too attached anymore. Damn roads...

I own a sapphire black, and I have come to the conclusion that Glossy black looks better than Matte black. I find the matte black looks good on certain colours but looks a bit cheap on sapphire black

I think the best option is the winglets painted body colour and the lip gloss black.
Matt black just looks like it has not been finished. Same goes for the rear diffuser looks so much nicer with the outer part painted body colour. |

I have black sapphire F36 and went with matte and love it. Personally, the gloss on metallic triggers my OCD more than with matte. I guess it's too close for comfort in terms of looking like you tried to color match it and cheaped out. Very noticeable difference when in direct sun. I would start matte then get it painted black sapphire if you end up hating it.
That's just my opinion though and objectively nothing wrong with gloss and will look good 99% of time.

I got it installed and painted at a small shop for $250. Of course they color matched it to my car with the color code. PM me if you want the name of the shop. |
