I DID IT! It was a little tighter space & a little more difficult because of mine being the xDrive. Here's a link to some detailed instructions (particular to the E90):
I hadn't put much time on it yet, but I don't think it's anything outrageous with the spring in. I did use the spring for "sport" mode. Checked the ECU and no codes yet.
