Yes you need good snow tires in NH but sport cars have no ground clearance so it doesn't solve all your issues. Another way to go ..... depending on your budget and living situation is to get a used Subaru Outback, Toyota 4Runner or any other 4 wheel drive beater. NH car insurance is cheap. Most of my ski friends in NH have gone this route. NH gets ice, big storms, potholes and frost heaves in the spring. They also use enough salt to make your car look like to top ring of a salted tequila margarita. Its brutal.

lol good luck!!! rwd in a car as light as the 3 series in a New Hampshire winter, no thanks. Nobody who lived in new Hampshire would ever buy a rear wheel drive car as a primary car, because it will be a nightmare in the snow. I know people in nh and you wouldn't be able to get up the hill of their driveway. that being said throw a few heavy bags of sand or kitty litter in the trunk to help the put some weight over the rear tires, and if you get really stuck you can use some of it for traction. and of course snow tires

I have a awd 335 a rwd c6 corvette and a 99 fwd honda accord. the honda is my winter beater, I bought the 335 to replace the honda but like my bmw too much to trudge through the snow... Winter beater!!! you can get a honda accord fwd for under 1500 on cl
