My knackered 335d ..... 1/2 litre of oil in 2,000 miles?

As per my gearbox 'thud' thread I am going to pick the car up shortly but BMW have reported that the car needs 1/2 litre of oil and front brakes pads doing asap.

My issue is the car had an oil & filter change just 2,000 miles ago on it's Service Pack, could it have used 1/2 litre in that time?
Also my service report shows the front pads on 6mm.

Perhaps the above items weren't checked or carried out thoroughly?
Maybe the 3 technicians who drove the car and said the gearbox was 'fine' didn't do that thoroughly either.....

Here I am striving for peace of mind via my main dealer

You could do 1/2 litre in 2000 miles especially if they only just put enough in during the service. I wouldn't worry about it.

Engines can use oil and go check the pads yourself if you think they are wrong, although I'd thought that would be the least of your issues as you say it needs a new gearbox?

I've checked the iDrive and dipstick on my car when collecting it from a dealer service and found the level to be on minimum.

Then walked into the Service Dept and been given a 1L bottle of oil to top it up.

Apparently they "always use the specified amount of oil". I call BS on that

Yours could have also been under-filled.

I wouldn’t worry too much, just top it to the correct level and keep an eye on it.
As said, I would just worry about the gearbox at the moment.
