I don't have any video clips with the 328 muffler and the aFe downpipe but it sounds much better and a bit louder with the 335i muffler. I barely noticed an increase in sound from just the aFe downpipe alone.

hope its this easy on the 435. I did a dual exhaust conversion on my 325, but that involved fabricating piping.

please someone do this conversion on a 428i (switching to stock 435 or M performance 435i). i much prefer the single dual exhaust set-up to the quad tip aftermarket options for the 428i. and i checked ebay....can't find an M sport 435i diffuser for the F32 yet.

Attempted to replay to you PM but your inbox is full. Here's my reply:

I didn't have any step by steps to go through but if you get a 335i/435i muffler that has been cut right where it is supposed to be cut (at the dimple in the piping) and then do the same with removing yours the effort should be minimal for any decent muffler shop. I used the muffler clamp designed for the 328i so when I go to put it back to factory its a 10 minute process. Keep in mind the piping is about 5mm larger in the 335i/435i compared to the 328i. Therefore I had the muffler shop remove then add about a 3" section to the muffler side of the 335i muffler so the 328i clamp could fit around it.

The diffuser part was the easiest part, took 10 minutes to replace and was 6 or so 8mm/10mm bolts and a few plastic clips.

Keep in mind, all of this is under the assumption that the muffler part of the exhaust for the 4 series is the same as the 3 series of course.

Best of luck, its worth it. Sounds much better!

I eBay'd it, but any BMW dealer should have them in stock for double the cost. Or just search the web. It's a 75mm clamp

Well, I just ordered the M Performance exhaust for the 335i 3 hours ago :-)

Nothing beats the symmetry. Had my eyes on the active autowerke but it would get to expensive with the shipping n customs+taxes.. so I got the only thing that I felt was worth it and had at least 80 mm pipes.

How do you plan on connecting it to your midpipe?

I have no idea what will be the best solution. Since I've bought my car and will own it at least this generation out, I might go ahead and weld it. Or I'll have my friend make it work by tweaking the muffler pipe side.. all I foudnwas these threads and some german ones and that gave me the confidence to go ahead with the purchase and wing it when its crunch time

You could always try one of the oem muffler clamps. Only problem is the 335 clamp is 5mm larger in diameter than the 328 clamp so youll have to get a bit crafty with either the midpipe or new muffler.

Is that really it? I mean, if I cut my pipe at this dimple will it line up with the muffler pipe? Or do I have to tweak either pipe? Thanks for the tips man ;-)

Edit: well judging from what you wrote and yoyr pics, I have to cut n weld the muffler pipe. How and what exactly did u do?

Not necessarily. I didn't know about the "dimple" when I cut mine
