TPMS Sensors F34 318GT
Hi guys. Trying to rack up some posts so here is a question. I upgraded from E46 to F34 a few months back. The guy gave me a nice set of rims with new Continental ContiSport 5 on them in a bag and i couldnt wait to put them on. So the service changed wheels but turns out all 4 TPMS sensors were dead so get the annoying message every time i start. Kinda surprising because the rims were pretty new. Price for new set is like 200$. I found some oem replacement for 50$ for entire set with pretty good reviews out of 500+ buys. Anyone has experience with those to tell me how screwed i am ? i mean if 1 out of 4 works ill be happy. Maybe work but wont last those 6-7 years

I don't know about BMW, but in my old Acura if just 1 sensor goes then the system stops working. Then when you replace the bad one they need to be synch'd up to the car although I've heard some new ones will do that automatically.

I can help. I just replaced wheels and needed new sensors for them.
If you use continental/vdo sensors (mid 2014 and up) I got mine off eBay from seller s0lisjavier. If you put ‘‘em in your cart but dont buy for a few days, you’ll get an offer for around $150-160. Or just offer that much? OEM ones are about $120 EACH. They look in every detail as BMW OEM, I could not tell that they were clones or seconds but I guessing they possibly are based on the pricing. Once you have the sensors installed you have to start the TPMS reset while stopped in idrive, then drive around ~10 minutes whilst they all sync up. First time seemingly takes forever compared to existing sensors, driving straight doesn’t seem to work as well as city driving with turns so it can differentiate which sensor is where, but once the reset is finished you are golden. And yes they do the temp plus pressure like the OEM ones do if you coded to display that. And no, you aren’t replacing the batteries in these Bill. they are a sealed unit.

Well i probably should have mentioned thst i stopped by the service and the guy checked them with the TPMS instrument, and couldnt get any signal reading on any of them. On the rims with winter tires everything worked and i had a reading.

Update: So i received the chinese cheap sensors a few months back but i installed them last week. Sensors work and all, but not sure if they are leaking air so need to wait to make sure its all good. The mistery is that the old sensors that i replaced are Huff Electronic Germany dated 23.3.21. I called the guy that sold me the car and he confirmed what i already know. He bought new rims 2021, new tpms sensors, drove them one summer in '21 and then gave them to me. How can all 4 sensors be dead after one year? The idiots in the tire service that change the winter rims with the ones with summer tires had them pumped up to 2.6! They are my main suspects. What could they do to kill all 4 sensors?
