Agreed.... I just have an intake, downpipe and piggy back tune. Nothing special.

Fair enough. No problem in taking pride in being the fastest, or trying to get there. I'm just saying that in order for people to participate, I think it's better to frame it non-competitively . That said, I think there's always an inherent competitiveness when you rank people or things, but there's nothing wrong with that.

I suppose it's time to update my time. So as of now, I am "Stage 2". I have a VRSF Catless Downpipe and VRSF IC. I am in the proccess of a custom tune with Cary. End game will be full e85. For these runs, I was e60. So with that being said, these runs were with an incomplete tune, with a poor 60ft (working on that) and an "okay" DA (642ft on my best run). I was pretty happy with these runs (minus my shitty 60).

Nice runs! A big jump from your last couple. Being this close on E60, I can't see how you wouldn't be in the 12's once your tune is sorted and you're on full E85. I bet with a better DA and 60' you could get there as she sits now.

This is looking like a pretty quick board with 3 guys getting 13.0x's and one in the 12's. It should only get quicker with the season (at least for us non-Floridians) coming up fast!

Well, the DA wouldn't cooperate but still made some improvements.

Wooahh! In the 12's! Congrats man.

Don't have time to update now, I'm on my way out the door, but I'll update the chart next time I get a chance.

Just to clarify, these most recent runs are on an OTS map running E60, or is it an unfinished custom tune running E60?

Trying to find out how different our setups are to see how close I am to a 12 second pass

Thanks, I was excited and disappointed at the same time. With it being so close to the 12.87 run, I was kind of mad at myself for not emptying out my car (full of old computers from work, probably and extra 100-150lbs) before going to the track.

This is a custom tune by Cary. We are still going through revisions, turning up timing/boost and ironing out stuff.. so the tune is currently incomplete/unfinished. I've just been doing logs on my 1/4 runs for him to tweak. So once it's completed, the 12.87 or lower will be easy work. A better DA, a tiny bit better 60, or having an empty car alone likely would have netted a 12.8 or better.

Chart's updated. I didn't realize how close you were to the #1 time, I guess I'd be a little bummed too, but can't be mad at your first 12 second pass

Without all the extra weight and with the right tune up and conditions, I have a feeling you'll be sub 12.87 in no time, like you said. Even with just a better 60' you're there. I've 60'ed 1.82 (w/ xDrive), so if you could get there with some sticky tires, which I'd guess you can, that alone puts you at #1.

Just out of my own curiosity, can you post a link to the log of the 12.909 pass? Just curious to see what you're tune looks like...

Are your mods current? Did Cary tune out some of that torque? Have you Dyno'd?

Yup. Regarding my 60, I've been struggling to figure it out. I've been getting ZERO tire spin. I've tried loading the drive train for longer and shorter duration. Neither produce a consistently better results. On the 12.909 pass I loaded as the first countdown yellow lit. So roughly 3 seconds of building boost which brought me to a little over 3lbs before launching. I don't have launch control so I can't get the rpms to go any higher.

Here's the log. And again, this is still in revisions so keep that in mind.

Yup, mods are in sig. What do you mean tune out some torque? I imagine he'd have to pull timing down low (if you are referring to the concern of peak torque at 1800rpm stretching the rod bolts) which wouldn't be ideal. I don't think we are near the rod bolts limit anyways. I haven't dynod but those times are indicative of 300-330 whp and similar wtq.

Interesting that you're not getting wheelspin. Contrary to what some may believe, the brake boost launch, even in an auto, is not as simple as just flooring both pedals and dumping the brake. You really do have to get the timing right. If you brake boost for too short of a time, you won't build enough boost, and if you do it too long it'll bog. Unless I'm actually staged against someone I want to race, I don't really pay attention to the lights. I'll wait for it to turn green sometimes, and then get on the brake boost so I can focus on timing that right rather than getting a good RT. I guess you'll just have to keep trial and error'ing to see if you can find that in between sweet spot. It looks like you're only getting up to about 2500rpm on the brake boost. I don't know why it's different, but I get it up to about 3100rpm.

And boy is he really throwing some timing at it! I'm sure a lot of that is for the ethanol, but still way more than a normal OTS stage 2 map. I guess it's better to get the power there than from the boost, which looks about the same, if not a little lower than OTS stage 2.

Ya, I've got some more testing to do to get the launch dialed in. The track is usually decently prepped and I do a small burnout just to clean off the tires. I mostly use the countdown to accurately measure how long I am loading for. That way if I do find success, I can call back on what light I started then released.

Definitely, that's the glory of ethanol. More resistance to detonation = more timing potential. Looks like it's about a pound or two below what OTS targets, so that is nice as well for reliability sake.

Makes sense timing the launch with the light like that. I guess I wait until it feels ready, not really sure lol.

And yah, ethanol's a magical thing when it's tuned for correctly. Excited to see how she does when it's all buttoned up

Man!!! Seriously, Congrats! I bet that run felt really great. Imagine if you had my trap speed.
You’re So close too! My 12.87 run was a little wild. I too had a packed car (tools, me (solid 260lbs), full tank, seats, and little cooler with dos XX). Barely launching at 1900 rpm with run flat tires.

Damn it! So, now that you’re close... I may have to come out of retirement. This time i’ll do it right. Gutted with some drag radials.

Haha nice! Should be a good summer season for the board with multiple guys in or approaching 12's. I'll definitely make a few runs soon and see if I can join you guys in the 12 second club
