15k Inspection: 330i
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.
The 330i is due for the 15k inspection and whilst I understand the oil service is condition based, I'm interested to know if there are others out there that intend to change the oil every 15k? I understand that daily usage can vary and some will turn cars over in 3-4 years, so this may impact on individual decision making. First time beemer owner and I'm having some difficulty adjusting to the condition based monitoring for oil changes. I previously owned a Focus ST and changed the oil every six months or approx 7.5k. Just interested in others views or preferences. Last edited by BaxterF30; 01-31-2017 at 12:54 PM.. Reason: Updated km info. |

Just got a price from a BMW dealer in Sydney....they quoted not more than $350.00 for an oil change. They also mentioned that they won't re-set the service notification, which means the oil change will come around (assuming my driving habits remain the same) at 25k. The 5 year service plan was included when i purchased the car. I'm thinking I'll do the changes at 12.5k intervals or every 12 months.......most probably way over the top.

I think these new modern day BMW are pretty good.
The service manual states every 25k or yearly whichever occurs first, so I wouldnt get them too frequently changed. Most guys that change their oil have high performance/track cars that require more regular maintenance and so would usually do them every 5-10k. My two cents. |

Changing oil every 25k is a bit long don't you think, that means after traveling 50,000kms the car will have only had two oil changes?

It would be interesting to know if anyone has taken the time to get the oil analysed if they are changing using the condition based service. |

In recent time, in most probability due to severe customer backlash, BMW decided to reduce the duration between oil & oil filter changes. No real problem with more frequent changes.
