.022 spark plug gapping ngk
About to do a spark plug swap of my old ones with the 94201 ngks, seen people have gapped them go .022 rather then .030 when they are running a tune, anyone got insight on this and if the gapping would be better for stage 2+ hpfp mhd on my 2016 340i, thank you!

OEM Champions at stock gap, 0.030" is what a lot of us do now. No timing corrections with upgraded turbo and E40 custom tune.
Stock gap is good for anything under like 850whp.

There really isn't a spark plug "upgrade". If everything is running cleanly as designed by the engineers who created the engine, then there is nothing to be improved upon. |

I'm running .020 due to mainly running E85 and was running 0.022 on pump gas

I'm running .022" and everything is fine. Flex fuel tuned with a Pure 800. Tuner recommended .018" but I personally did not want to close that gap that small.

Gapping is to reduce blowout and will burn less efficiently. Worst case scenario you damage the tip when adjusting it. That's why it's not recommended to mess with it. It'll run fine either way but a bigger gap is better if you can get away with it, which the B58 can for most setups. |

With that being said, I think I’ll try the stock gap champions next spark plug change. The stock gap works fine for us Kern? With MHD hpfp maps? |

I'm running stock gap at over 600whp along with many others. The most I've seen is the Twisted Tuning A90 running 750whp, again with stock gap. Until you experience blowout, I wouldn't change anything. |

I had the ngk 94201 at 0.022, car ran amazing. Tried 0.020 and no noticeable change. I'm wondering if they are too cold of a plug for E I was reading about that. It's probably something else though. I found these which look rad but I don't think they work on the b-58. It be cool if we could get a set of these: https://euroklasse.com/products/bmw-...el-spark-plugs |
