"something" is going on at MHD with their quality assurance, yet again v3.88 pulled

This time with v3.88 yesterday, not a typo, yesterday.

Yesterday was "bad" release, flat out. Android, that's what i have, opens and v3.88 immediately "crashes". Over and over, crashing with each app open's.

And today, v3.89 release. Seem to have fixed that crash at least.

What the hell is going on over at MHD these days?

Regression is becoming "lot frequent" with each MHD releases.

Is this the "new normal" with MHD going forward?

I agree... lately it looks like they rely on users for beta-testing. Not cool MHD. Not cool.

I'm going back and forth between MHD and BM3 for my '16 340 and this has me leaning towards BM3. I ran BM3 on my '14 335 and had nothing but a great experience... Might have to just go BM3 again. Sure wish someone would sell me a damn license!

Before the v3.88 fiasco, we had v3.86 which introduced new map version 1.5, and that was pulled day later and replaced with v3.87, with no explanation in the "what's new".

Why hide things in the release history?

Be transparent MHD !

You mean map 3.5, not 1.5.

And the unofficial explanation was "it had a bug".

The logs were scary bad with 3.5 (much worse than with any previous). They became better than ever over night with 3.6. Go figure…

Curious why you were on the fence if you had a previous great experience with Bootmod3? Seems like a no brainer to stick with it.

Purely out of curiosity honestly. I heard good things about MHD and wanted to give them a try but I think I changed my mind (again).

I've had a great experience with Bootmod3 as well, from their basic Stage1 & Stage2 tunes, to the FlexFuel MultiMap tunes that I'm using now. Tech support and regular free updates and upgrades have been excellent for years now. Good luck!

Polarizing subject always not only with this platform but any i've been involved with. I'm using MHD and have on several cars and feel that for an off the shelf map they perform very well. With that said, i've used Cobb on other platforms and used their Accesstuner Race tool to make my own maps for previous Subie's and BMW's...
I am now looking at BM3 as i was not aware that with BM3 you could write your own maps. My question is, do they allow us to see as a starting point for instance what their E30 map looks like in comparison to other maps they offer?

MHD does not make its maps. They buy maps from third-party tuners.

I don't think they have enough tuning knowledge to read and test the different table changes.

I don't know if they test new maps given to them from the third part tuners and what that testing involves but from the sound of it, this version was not tested enough.

In this particular case, it was the app that was apparently not (sufficiently) tested, not the map. In the previous occasion - it was the map.

MHD's OTS maps are from PureBoost (only).

MHD do however seem to have sufficient competence to analyse logs, etc.

I chose MHD for a reason after a lot of research and do not regret it (yet), but am nevertheless disappointed from their faults lately. Luckily no critical ones.

Do you mean for this platform? They got their N54 maps from Wedge.

Yes, not 1.5, but meant 3.5, which day later turned into 3.6 as you said, but the release notes for v3.87 which introduced 3.6 map still mentions 3.5 map.

Small details MHD !!!

Are the latest maps still v3.6? Or, do I need to flash again?

Maps remain at v3.6, but says bug fixes.

Does that mean last version of app that flashed v3.6 is to be trusted?

In other words, do folks reflash with updated app despite the map version has not changed?

No! Keep in mind that there are a number of software products here:
- the app itself (separately for android and iOS)
- OTS map packages for a number of different platforms (each with different version number)

Just because the app is updated does not mean the map for a specific platform has changed in any way! If the map ver is the same, the map is the same.

What they did recently incorrectly was to update the B58 map (from 3.5 to 3.6) without providing revision history between the two (the description was still regarding the changes in 3.5 vs 3.4).

Long story short 3.6 is still the latest.
