WANTED 335D Tourer
Hi All - I've been searching AutoTrader and Ebay since the first lock down and watched the market dry up.
I'm after a 335D M Tourer xdrive; in terms of spec ideally i'm after Harman Kardon; heated seats; LED light; full size IDrive screen. I live in Stafford near junction 14 of the M6. |

Looking on autotrader there are only 12 with Harman Kardon. There are a few cat S and N.
My budget has crept up just to try and find one. It’s around £20,000 and I was hoping for 2017 car. |

I agree, they're all crap spec'd - finding one with M Sport Plus is like hens teeth. I really wish I'd have kept mine now, I sold it far too cheaply!

Been looking since December time and prices seem to have gone up since then as they’ve become even harder to come by!
435d seems a similar story now I’m semi convinced that’s what I want instead. |

And whats with all the Cat S, D, N cars for sale. i put the reg of one into WeBuyanyCar and the trade in was £8K. The y were asking £22k. A normal car of the same age, spec and mileage was £23k. the trade in for this car was £17k. Surely you're throwing your money away buying a CAT car

Prices are through the roof on nearly all used cars.
Private sellers cars all went, decently priced trader cars all went. We got left with the over priced stuff that is just sitting there and sitting there. Now we have private sellers seeing these over priced dealer cars and thinking "oooh, can I get that much for mine? I'll list it." So we now have over priced dealer and private cars. The problem is a few buyers have only just started looking, therefore they think that is the price, the reality is those cars at £23k should be £18k, and the ones at £16k should be £12k. Come June 21st. we will see lots of cars come back on the market and prices level back to normality, those that have bought in the last few months will get burnt badly imho. Don't get me wrong, I think used prices will be the highest they have been for years, but considering I nearly bought a 2014 335d touring with all the toys, FBMWSH and 82k miles on it for £13k back in July from a dealer in Bristol, it shows just how over priced most are now. The reality is, most 4 year old 335d Tourings will probably depreciate more over the next 2-3 years than a discounted M340i, and when you get to that point you have to stop and think. |

Funny market isn’t it and interesting reading above. I’m interested, how much do people think this would have been worth a year or so ago?
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-det...02102209268129 Or https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/2...8-d0944184b2f3 Many of us on here in the market for similar cars is inevitable, but I don’t like the idea of us competing for the same vehicles! Just proves how cheap 2015 my heavily specified F30 35d was sold for in March 2018 to make way for my X5.
I'm considering the estate now that I have a dog and also considering jumping off the PCP train and buying a car for cash again so you can add me to the list of >2015 335d Touring come May.

I looked a 335D tourer for £23k and put reg in WeBuyanyCar and the best trade in was £15k. I know they give peanuts but thats a measure of how over priced the cars are. i asked the garage how much they would give me if i was trading the same car in.... after a long silence and some weird facial expressions they said OOOoooo we'd give you £21,500. I didn't buy the car.

Only because there are so few being advertised, it is all the expensive ones sat there.
15 plate 335d Touring came up 5 miles away from me on Tuesday, grey with black, sport plus pack, 80k miles, £14k. Called him up and he said it sold within a couple of hours and would get back to me if they guy coming that day didn't. He didn't call back. |

Looks loverly!
Although, extended leather and indi colour is all it has above what I saw the other day and £6000 more. £6k more on a £14k car is a lot. But looks great. Last edited by gIzzE; 02-26-2021 at 01:35 PM.. |

It has: pro nav, pro media, adaptive dampers, reverse cam, head up display and has just been serviced. Few marks on the bodywork (chips and light marks). Am I being stupid?! I need a vehicle to get me through the next year and will be paying cash. |

5 years old, 50k miles and £21k.
I would expect it will depreciate around £11k over the next 3 years and 36k miles if you sell it privately. So around £300 a month. Only you can decide if it is worth it to you. I would wait for lockdown to end. reckon there will loads more on the market then. |

Price is all relative, I'm happy to pay more for a car that has the spec I want. And as I don't change my main cars very often this additional price is long since forgotten about when the time comes to sell them. Now if you swap out of cars regularly that's where people are going to get burned, but equally most people who do swap cars regularly are fairly in tune with market prices and so will have held tight. |
