QuickJack!

I saw these a few years ago, and saw last year they had them in Costco. I set it up over winter and now starting to use it properly now. Very handy for the winter wheel swap, and had to sort something around the exhaust area.

Complete boys and their tools thing, but would totally recommend to anyone who does a fair bit of work on their cars at home.

Interesting , are they easy to move around and I am guessing , a plug and play thing .
Could be just the thing for getting the car to eye level , for cleaning etc .

Yes, easy to move around on your drive or in your garage. They have little wheels at one end so you can pull and push them around, but one person can lift one if need be.

When you buy them new you need a little time to set them up, but then after that, takes a few mins to set up amd away you go.

I store them underneath the car I park in the garage, so pretty unobtrusive to store too.

Saw these the other day on hotukdeals. Look fantastic. Would love them but wouldn't use them enough to justify the cost.

Do they have some sort of mechanical fail safe?

They have two mechanical locking positions, so once on those you could disconnect the hydraulic lines and leave like that for as long as you wanted, or work underneath the car with confidence that it isn't going to fail.

I have been sitting on the fence of these and the scissor jacks for some time now.....really should just pull the trigger on one of them.

Do they have good lateral stability to work underneath the car?

Yes, feels rock solid if you try to push the car. I'd want a nice flat solid driveway or garage floor though.

I'd get enough use out of a set of these to justify the cost, but my driveway has a slope of ~1:10 which somehow doesn't seem like a good match.

That said, I'm used to working on the car when it's supported by two trolley jacks, load-bearing wheels chocked, and with axle stands positioned as safety backups, so maybe not so different either way.

I'd love a set of these, but aren't they about £1200?

that's a lot of paying other ppl to do stuff :-)

That sounds about right. Some stuff I find enjoyable and I like to do myself, plenty I'd rather others do for me. You pays your money...

Not if you're not running a car just now anyway.

The amount my cars go up and down with wheel/tyres and brake changes, with track days etc. then feels very worthwhile.

I wished I'd had these for doing discs last year, would have been a lot easier and more enjoyable.

That looks really useful, but very expensive at almost £1k for the odd use here and there.

There is a new 3inch taller version being launched by Quickjack soon. Probably why the existing version is on at special price low price of £1099 at Costco currently. Normally price is around £1350.
Details here on the coming taller version:-

Haven't actually used it with the M4 yet, but I don't think there will be. It comes with different sized rubber blocks to go under the jack points and it goes low enought be stored underneath either the M4 or the Lotus, which are both reasonably low cars.

I can't see where Costco says they have sold out?...They have always only been available for delivery in a few days and not available in store.
