Had time to kill in Glasgow city centre today. Made the mistake of “window shopping” in the Argyll Arcade.

Was looking at pre owened Rolex Subs. The price has dropped. Looking at £10 - £11k for newish ones.

It’s a scratch I’ve wanted to itch for a while. Wish I hadn’t looked!!!!

I had a bluesy for a while, not quite sure why, but I didn't gel with it. I have a GMT Master II, Explorer II and Yachtmaster that are all keepers.

That’s some collection you have!

It’s the black sub I am looking at.

Just need to get the wife to see it’s a good idea. I’m not sure they are as good an investment as they once were. But will try and sell it to her.

I prefer the no date sub….allegedly people prefer the date model - but getting different views.

Here is the one I liked today.

Thanks. I had a much larger collection, but sold most of it as it spent all the time in a safe. The Explorer and Yachtmaster are 'daily' wear watches. The GMT Master II I bought new in 2003 and its never been worn.

I love the black sub, one of the all time classics IMO. Now is a pretty good time to buy, as I believe the market correction has happened.

I've got a no date Sub and it is a classic looking watch without the cyclops date cluttering the face.

I keep looking at them too but then keep wondering whether they are worth having given how many people want to mug you for them. Seems like it’s not just London where this is happening anymore and hearing about similar attempts to mug people with expensive watches in the midlands and up north…!

Nothing doing at the MD`s at the top of Buchanan St ?

Allegedly there are some MD`s carrying "stock" at the moment , you never know you might be lucky on the day.

Got to agree with look of the no date Sub , sometimes less is more.

Good idea.

I may take a look in. But they are such a horrible experience. But they may have to change their approach if demand goes down!!!

Agreed , been in a couple of times recently and found them very patronising , but to be fair i have found most of the Rolex AD`s the same.

Wife has just ordered a new sofa set and all the "extras" that need to go with the new couch so figured that i am due another watch , well according to my man maths its only fair.

Looking at an Oyster Perpetual with the Celebration Dial or the Tiffany blue dial if it is still available.

I got 'mugged' for the Rolex I was wearing last year, in Spain. Insurers paid out, I bought another Rolex. I won't let some low life cunts change the way I live my life.

Always found the prices in the arcade a bit toppy, but I'd imagine they have some room for negotiation

I've seen no-date Subs under £10k recently online - look for Flawless Timepieces on Facebook, they're Glasgow based
