iDrive update with eSys - will I lose my service history?

A complete rookie with eSys, I must admit!

I am planning to update I-step (iDrive specifically) in order to be able to code full screen CarPlay and also to hopefully get rid of some annoying bugs related to the multimedia.

My question is - will i lose my service history in the process or anything else I need to be aware of, other than any coding performed by myself?

Read somewhere the process, just for iDrive, takes 2-3 hours!?

Any advice / support appreciated.

I did it and service history remained. Just lost custom coding but that’s easy to redo. I followed a YouTube guide and used ISTA+ after flash to clear error codes.

Thanks for the response
How long did the update take and did you only update HU_NBT or other ECUs too?

I reckon I can also use BimmerLink to clear codes?

Not sure about bimmerlink, the youtube video I watched mentioned ista as specifically needed to clear certain stuff. I think it was Bimmerdoc

I only updated HU, took like 40 minutes without any issues.

Don’t forget external power supply!

I’m using the same YouTube guidance 😉
Hopefully it will work fine.

And another silly question - once you code fullscreen CarPlay can you still call-up split screen if you wish, like you can in the bmw nav etc? (To have board computer data on the side)

Did anything else change/improve with the update? (I am for example having issues where stored radio stations are occasionally just lost/deleted or car doesn’t remember last audio source on start-up…)
