Old Noob needs help GT trunk won’t open

Good Evening Everyone

Im new to the forum but figured this was the right place to ask.

I recently acquired a 2014 328i GT that I love!

But the problem is my truck has failed to open when I push the button on driver side door or the remote. Only when pulling emergency pull tab will it open but you still have to push it up all the way.

Would like to say thanks to all of you feel like I’ve already learned a lot thru you!

It could be a failure in the electric release mechanism, or in the rear electronic module that controls it, perhaps even a blown fuse. How about the release on the outside of the lid? There's what looks like a handle there, pressure on it when the car is open should open the trunk. Whatever it is chances are it's not mechanical, it's electronic, which means you probably need to have it diagnosed by a dealer or a skilled BMW indy.

The tailgate is making a clicking noise. But doesn't fully unlock/pop the tailgate

When you pull the safety cord the tailgate pops but no assistance up. Once it's fully open it will close using the close button but won't completely seal and lock

I'll check the fuses.

Just really hate the idea of paying dealer prices if it's something so simple

Did you find a solution to the problem? I just started to have the same problem with the trunk on my GT.

Did the trunk lock in the glove box get switched on? Happened to me once, drove me nuts for an hour or so before I realized it.

same happened to me. had a mini freakout while holding a large ice cream cake. tried to use the foot sensor and it wouldn't work, nor the button under the steering column or the remote.

it was the valet switch in the glove box
