*** bootmod3 for BMW B48 - Now Available ***

Name: bootmod3-logo-small.png

bootmod3 closed beta for the B48 engines has been a great success and we're excited to announce the wait is finally over!

Our development and testing teams have worked tirelessly on BMW B48 engine feature support over the past few months. Once B58 was released back in April focus shifted to B48 testing with a wider closed beta. Initial flash time that includes unlocking the DME is around 3 minutes and switching maps takes just 19 seconds using the standard ENET-OBD cable available on Amazon/eBay or through even some authorized dealers.

Licenses and more info can be seen by clicking on the link provided below:

https://www.protuningfreaks.com/coll...w-fxx-gxx-tune

B48 FEATURES INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE TODAY

Top speed limiter removal
Exhaust burble adjustments in app on any map (OTS and custom)
Exhaust flap adjustments
Cold start (cat heating on startup) removal for quieter cold start
Cat efficiency check (CEL) removal for de-cat downpipes (for off-road use)
Maps for upgraded turbos
E85, race gas and meth injection tuning
Custom Throttle mapping

Power and torque gains differ between the 20i and 30i models due to slight changes in engine setup as well as factory power curves. Here is a breakdown of the gains in percentages compared to stock, see below. We're also attached some sample dyno graphs on a 20i and a 30i test vehicles.

B48 20i:
Stage 1 91 octane: up to 42% HP / 46% TQ
Stage 1 93 octane: up to 46% HP / 48% TQ
Stage 1 E30 octane: up to 53 % HP / 50% TQ
Stage 2 91 octane: up to 50% HP / 48% TQ
Stage 2 93 octane: up to 54% HP / 50% TQ
Stage 2 E30 octane: up to 60% HP / 55% TQ

B48 30i:
Stage 1 91 octane: up to 14% HP / 26% TQ
Stage 1 93 octane: up to 16% HP / 26% TQ
Stage 1 E30 octane: up to 20% HP / 28% TQ
Stage 2 91 octane: up to 16% HP / 28% TQ
Stage 2 93 octane: up to 18% HP / 28% TQ
Stage 2 E30 octane: up to 22% HP / 30% TQ
Stage 2 AGG (Aggressive burble) versions of maps available
Race gas maps are on the way!

Its been a ton of fun working through the initial development and w're really looking forward to seeing where the platform takes us from here!

How does this work in the UK with 95 and 98 octane fuel?

243 whp (st2 93) for 20i is kind of disappointing.

Not when you look at it as a 50% increase over stock. Not bad for a downpipe and tune.

Awesome.

I'm assuming this will also work for the B46 engine variants (SULEV)?

Yup look like the gain on 30i is the disappointing one. The 20i closes the gap in power with the 30i but the 30i did not even make that much gain to close on the 40i

Guess 320i will be a best buy... only problem is option is limited.

Perfectly fine. 91 = 95 octane and 93 = 98 octane.

I wonder if something may be wrong with the graphs, because st1 93 says 248, so actually more than stage 2.

They've confirmed on the facebook page that B46 is also supported, yes.

I’ve seen much more on 320’s... it’s almost the same engine as 30i and the output on the same stage differ a lot. However 30i numbers are also nothing extraordinary, n20 had these numbers 5 years ago.

They're not aiming to maximise power, it's an OTS tune meant to be safe and reliable. We will surely see higher numbers from custom tunes.

I was running on their closed beta, and I'm currently at around 330hp and 600nm which is +80hp and +180nm on my 330e.. also the power delivery is really, really smooth.

Ok I’ve remapped my 320i to 330i a year ago when it was new. Now I have catless DP and intake and I have no reason going for this st2 maps due to low hp numbers on them. I’ll have additional 10-15 hp or something over my current setup and it doesn’t worth the price. Of course if you’re on stock 320 it would be a big jump in power, but I was hoping for at least 270-275 whp for st2 ots.

If you've already tuned your car, you probably shouldn't expect too big of a jump to a different tuner.

It’s wasn’t a tune in my case. I’ve just remapped ecu to 330i, so that 320i became 330i))

That’s bullshit because 320i is higher compression. On pump gas you can’t just put a 330i tune on it unless you run like race gas or meth to raise octane much higher? Lets see those dynos or its lies 😂

Does anyone have a link to some official documentation that the B46 is supported? I'm curious if the tunes they provide will work on a B46? I understand that a B46 can be tuned with their software/interface, but I'd like to know if I can download a working tune for my 2017 330xi B46 from their website/app and use it without having to find someone to adjust it for me.

My car 320(330 ecu) + jb4 map6 runs faster than any b48 I’ve seen in the whole internet. I’ve raced 330i st2 (330 hp on the dyno) and got him by couple car lengths. Let’s wait for some dragy/racelogic data for these tunes...
also I’ll try to race a 320 with that tune if I could find one in my city. Couple of friends with b48 considering purchasing bm3.

How is that not a tune? Your car is remapped to produce more power. I fully understand that you don't think it's worth the money for you, but the target audience here is stock cars, not cars that are already tuned.

They (Pro tuning freaks) have confirmed that B46 is supported in the Bootmod3 enthusiasts group on Facebook.

Holy shit the 320i really wakes up with tuning. 330i does pretty good too. So the b48 has an air to water intercooler that does not need to be upgraded to run stage 2, so stage 2 only requires a catless down pipe?

The full process of acquiring/installing Bootmod3 has been fantastic and simple (except my incompatible USB to ethernet adapter).

Got my license, downloaded OBD agent and flashed to Stg1 - 93 Octane for my 230i.

Power is amazing and super smooth. Burble is weird with my exhaust combo but will see might need some adjustment.

Coming from a JB4 I am quite please to finally have a reliable flash tune available.
