Damn man that's basically the same damage as mine. This is gonna kill my pockets

Car isn't financed, it's fully paid off. Still, it wasn't a smart thing to do to just have liability coverage on such a new car.

Yea I was foolish. I'll definitely get collision now. But 1k for just the headlight?? Jesus Christ how?? I just bought a left headlight for $150. I can't imagine the labor for replacement is another $950. The headlight isn't genuine, but it's OEM certified. Still gets the job done I suppose haha

Oh man... a little more damage on my car years ago reached $8k. Initial quote at body shop was like $5k, but it is like an onion, they start peeling off and need more money to fix.
My insurance paid everything, and couple months later they reimbursed the $1000 deductible, because it was not our fault.
Having a BMW relative new with low insurance is very risky... specially on cold places with snow and ice rain... Everything is dice on these days for low coverage insurance... Sorry.

Good thing your suspension components look intact/untouched. Got hit last year on this exact day in my 2015 320i and was totaled with $15k in damages. Suspension/steering rack alone were almost $10k combined.

UPDATE:
I got an estimate for a rounded $3,000. Need a new fender, hood, and headlight. Another body shop said they can fix the dents for $1,000. I'm not gonna do that though lol, I decided to buy the hood and fender on my own from the junkyards and have them fix it. That way it'll get done way less than the 3k. Body shop said the hood is $700 and the fender is $500 lol, ridiculous. I can find them for cheaper at the junkyard.

Sounds sensible if you have to cover the cost yourself. Good luck!

Usually cars end up in a junkyard for a reason. Good luck finding a good hood and fender.

I agree with your approach... do your work to get a descent cost solution.
FYI, insurance companies are approved by law to use aftermarket or even salvaged parts for repairs... based on principle that the damaged vehicle was not a brand new, and insurance would be extremely expensive if using only OEM replacement parts.

Adding OEM parts coverage is very cheap. I’m paying something like $70 a year extra for all our vehicles. When I hit a deer a couple years back, it was a smooth process. All brand new OEM parts, no questions or hassles. I think the only restriction is the vehicle has to be 2000 or newer, at least with my insurance.

Yeah I agree, body shops try to get the most money they can when I can buy the same parts for cheaper lol. Thanks for the feedback.

Only $70 extra for all your cars, not too bad. Im going to get full coverage after getting my car back, hopefully it isn't too expensive.

If you have uninsured motorist this would be covered. Otherwise car-part will be your friend to look for parts. Might get lucky to find things. The headlight and fender itself isn't too expensive via eBay, but the hood, paint, and labor might be the kicker

Yup, I got all the parts from Car Parts haha. Headlight, fender, hood all came out to be around $650 plus shipping. Everything was really cheap. All parts OEM too. Now the labor and paint really is the problem, I'm getting a $1,250 estimate for labor and paint but oh well.
