840i 2 door coupé offer

Stratstone have the 840i coupe at £399pm on a 9+23 PCH which seems very good value for those who need just 2 proper seats:

Yes saw that today...damn that is tempting. GGC is what I should have but I have a strict no > 5m policy.

Just the occasional kids pick up in the rear. Hmmm lot of car for the money.

It is a really stunning looking car - prettier than the 8GC. You can probably still get an 8GC for less than this if you can apply some 'man geometry' with your measurements...

If only you could put a roof rack on it.

I feel like a man with a shellfish allergy at a free lobster buffet. Incredible product, fantastic value, totally pointless for my life.

That probably applies to too many people and hence why they are not selling. I am the odd year or two older than you, my kids are grown up but I still dont think they fit my life - with a dog and grandkids. And an aged mother... The 8GC also really fits into the same category.

This may be why SUV sales are soaring...

£532 a month for a car that in reality is just too big 90% of the time.

Don't get the problem with length or width etc. Yes it can be a little tight in parking space, but nothing too troubling. I've been into the tiniest entrance in a Parisian car park in our Q7 with a narrow winding route to the car park once in, as well as loads of small lanes.

I enjoy the challenge. In a normal UK multi-storey even my wife can get it round. Yes, the car sticks out a little in car parking spaces. So what? No one has hit it yet.

I've had a few touching 5m long and one over, when actually on the road, it's like any other car.

A 440i is a challenge in a normal parking space (2 door) due tothe size of the doors. A wider 840i with bigger doors must be worse. A 5 series is bad enough...

Even your wife... are you going to show her that quote 😉😂

Happily, it's about time someone told her!

Big doors aren't too much of a problem on a coupe if they're frameless. Wind the window down and you can get out in a much smaller gap than you think, easily the same as a normal car. Getting in, a double click will wind them down halfway for just that purpose.

Anyone seen any lease deals on the i8? Now BMW have announced Feb for last orders on the i8 I wonder if there will be some crazy lease deals flying around..

Good point. You do still need to be fairly flexible to get in.... that's where it all goes wrong!

I dont mind a big car - I used to have a Renault Grand Espace back in the day! - but a big car with no space just strikes me as a bit of a waste.....

I'm pretty sure the point of the 8 Series, and its size, is style (although I'm not a massive fan), rather than practicality. Plenty of other cars in the range with space.

And as I have said before, style is low on my list of requirements.... or if it is practicality is higher. Suspect I am not alone looking at the deals they are doing...

I guess in reality I ought to be their target market otherwise, bit older, no kids to carry very often, etc... but it just doesnt do it for me.

Not really given what you've just said. I doubt they presented a case based upon "user A" that states "style is low on my list of requirements" whilst they were looking at potential customers for a large stylish 2 door coupe.

I meant in terms of my demographic profile - age, dependants, income blah blah. You cant really get marketing data based on preferences to that level of detail....

PS looking at the back end, maybe they were targeting someone not interested in style!

Working up in London visiting customers and sites as I do regularly - that car would absoultaly kill me trying to park it.

( hence I drive a girly Z4 M40i )

Lovely car though.
