N20 Turbo issues

I recently purchased a '15 428iX with 59k miles. After driving it only four times it popped a message of Drivetrain Malfunction drive moderately. Looks like low boost and it might need a Turbo. Any idea if it would be covered under emissions warranty? And if not.....what is a better replacement setup? might as well make it better if I'm paying for it!

first, you got N20 or N26 engine since your car is 428i.
second, you better scan the error code to identify the error

Code was scanned by BMW certified technician, all sensors were replaced to eliminate potential false readings. Low boost issue, he determined bad turbo, suggested taking to dealership hoping for emissions warranty replacement.
I was under the impression that a '15 428i had the B46, but see now I'm wrong. This is my first experience in the European car world, so far not good.
I'm not new to cars by any means, have always had (and still do) GM Muscle.

They can be a pain in the a** because of the modern tech but they're an overall good experience. Find an independant shop in your area for BMW and Euro cars, that'll save money, they can help you with upgrades and they're enthusiast centered. The N20 is a good engine, in your year and model there is no more timing chain guide issue and they can be finicky when it comes to mods / upgrades. If you go with a bigger turbo you will have to upgrade the charge, boost, turbo inlet and down pipes as they are plastic and will fail and upgrade the intercooler as well.

It could be many things, but on my 2013 N26 when that happened it was the wastegate that failed...of course my original wastegate was pneumatic.

Not necessarily, depending on the build date. Even if that's after February of 2015 the tensioner is still suspect, so that should be replaced in any event.

Angry N20 Turbo Oil Feed Line Issue

I have a 2013 328 IX with the N20 turbo engine. Noted blue smoke out exhaust on cold start up. Found the issue is the oil feed line leaks into the turbo causing burn off on start up. Car drives fine and no codes but this car guy can’t stand a blue puff on startup. Found a BMW Tech Service bulletin extends warranty coverage for 10 years Or 120k miles for 2012-13 N20 engine with oil feed line issue Repair involves installing a new oil line that has a check valve, preventing oil drip back. Dealer and the friendly BMW “customer care” rep sadly report my vin. is excluded from the warranty coverage even though our car has 48k miles . Dealer quoted $2,134 to replace the line (bmw part cost $41.00 labor $2 grand.
Anyone have any experience with this. Xtremely dissatisfied bimmer guy Dave

The leaking turbo oil feed line is very well known. There are youtube videos how to replace it. It's not something only seen in BMW. Google 'turbo oil feed line leak' and you'll see at least ten pages of results.

Update:
Replaced the turbo, bought the "kit" from Bimmerworld with the "big" turbo upgrade. Other than the fact there is 100lbs of shit in a 5lb box under the hood of these, it was fairly easy to swap out. Quoted $5k to have it done at dealer, $4k at an independent shop, have $1850 into it and probably could've done it in a day if I hadn't gotten busy and done other things in the middle of the job. Currently on stock tune with everything stock besides the bigger MHI N20 Turbo. May pursue further upgrades, may just sell.
