Hey all -
Recently picked up an '18 440i Gran Coupe M-Sport xDrive to replace my E90. Love it but was never a fan of the 400M rims. The wheels just look so bright/silver and dated. I live in NYC so I'm very reluctant to go towards the 19" M-Sport rims. Are there any other 18" M-Sport wheel options? I didn't see any. I do like the orbit or even ferric 397 wheels but I'm reluctant to pull the trigger as they were not available on the M-Sports. Also obvi will be missing the M branding but I'm not sure that's a deal breaker. Any thoughts? Issues with downgrading to the 397 rims? Am I crazy? Lol open to other suggestions! Attached a picture of the 440 and the orbit 397's. [IMG][/IMG] |

You could have the 400M’s powder coated to a darker shade. Not black, please. Maybe a darker grey.

Do you think it would be possible to powder coat in bmw ferric gray or would I need to just search for a close shade? |

Have you thought about going aftermarket?
Aftermarket wheels will probably be lighter and stronger, not to mention probably better looking. I've never been a fan of OEM BMW wheels. There are aftermarket 18" options if you want to go that size.

Late bump but you could also look into the staggered 18" 398 orbit grey wheels fitted to many F30s with the Track Handling Package (THP). They came fitted with Michelin Pilot Supersports as well.
I'm a fan of them myself so there's not much desire to swap these out on my F31.
