DPF Cleaning Additives

Anyone have any experience of using these?

Not for my car but the wife has a Focus tdci which I think could do with "something"... She does quite a few short journeys as she is part time and takes the little'un swimming etc.

I've used Archoil 6400D-Max and my cautious/cynical ear told me that it made a useful difference in smoothness as the engine consumed the treated tank of fuel.

That said, a DPF usually just needs a decent run/thrash where the engine and DPF can get up to full temperature and has enough time for a full regen.

I tend to take it out for a decent run every now and again but since getting the F36 I cant be bothered to change gear and hers is a manual ha ha!

Yep, double dose for a couple of tanks then just use it at normal dose all the time. Makes a big difference.
You can buy a five litre on eBay for a fraction of the price of lots of little bottles....

What is a “decent run” in a DPF cleaning context?

Good question. I've never seen any real data/reports. I've always assumed the longer the run the better, once up to full operating temperature.

From what I have read:

A good 15-20min run at 2500-3500rpm. i.e. sit on the motorway for 20mins at 70mph in 4th.
