Thinking about it some more - the cams themselves should be tiny and feed into a central processing/recording box. Like the thinkeares have a smaller rear camera because they use the front to do the processing.
For a proper manufacturer fitted one i’d Expect full integration with it barely visible, then viewable through the drive system as well as backing up to an attached SD card. Any g-shock recordings would also be uploaded to the cloud via the built in eg sim. Does *anyone* do anything like that? Seems such a missed opportunity |

what are the speed camera alerts like on the thinkware? Have been considering a road angel but reports are mixed and they care expensive!

I would say BlackVue best dahscam around It’s WiFi so you can watch all videos on your phone without having to take memory card out and plug in computer |

I bought and use a Viofo A129 from Amazon for £130 delivered.
This is dual channel with gps and is fairly small. It is powered by a dual output usb adapter and power lead that plugs into the power socket under the glove box so you can also charge your phone. You can also get a 3 wire hard wire kit to use for parking mode or like a lot of people they just use power bank. |

Any recommendations for supply/fit in the windsor/slough area? General quality of driving has really nosedived in recent years so may fit mine and my wife’s with front/rear cameras

I think a dashcam is a must with the amount of insurance scams nowadays (dashcam footage means many instances of insurance companies saying "50:50" even though you're not to blame just to reduce their costs, goes away e.g. they can't argue with video EVIDENCE of some knob ploughing into you from a side road because they pulled out without looking, witnesses or no witnesses) <--- happened to a friend who had no dashcam and no witnesses so they couldn't fight it, their premiums went up as a result
I have a single front dashcam in my F30 (Viofo A119 - 1140p30 wide angle recording on a Lexar MLC 32Gb microSd (3.5ish hrs recording)). Better than my old 1080p Transcend DP (I find it's a crisper image that's easier to read numberplates from due to the slightly higher res - for instance, 1080p allows accurate numberplate reading from just over 1 car length away but 1440p can increase that distance to just over 2). Comes as non-GPS version (mine) or a GPS version for about £10-20 more. The only extra I got was a CPL (circular polarising) filter to reduce dash reflections. Placed it to left of rear view and routed wire along headliner, down and across A-pillar, under glovebox and into accessory socket. Turns on when car unlocked and door opened, turns off a few minutes after closing door/locking/alarming it (or to be precise, after having just timed it using the dashcam itself, the 12V socket goes out exactly 3min after the doors are locked - which isn't an appreciable battery drain): Mounted snugly behind the rear view mirror Routed up in headliner, down A pillar and behind rubber trim on side of dash Then placed into accessory socket for power Looks inconspicuous enough... Literally took about 5 minutes to install and cost < £100 all in (so I would recommend doing it yourself as you can choose from the hundreds available and not have to rely on what the installer is trying to sell you).

Yes, it will do a "parking mode" but as someone already mentioned, if you're going to do this either install a small LiIon battery (can get the system off eBay) that runs the dashcam whilst off - a bit fiddlier to install but very do-able......

The A129 duo. Thinking of getting one myself this weekend. It's not too much more than an a119. |

I've hardwired all my dashcams to the fuses (located in the boot). Parking mode is set for 6 hours and voltage switch off is set to 12.1V.
Something worth mentioning, other than get at least 1080p. Some dashcams can record at 60fps, makes catching fast moving number plates much easier. On Standard 30fps, can make plates look like a blur. I've got a Blackvue DR-750S - 2ch + MultiSafer, which has this feature. |

Getting my second fitted fairly soon. The fuse mappings show #143 and #141 as a window symbol.
2 questions: 1) Many pictures on guides show the piggy fuse line cable either facing into the fuse box or the reverse with the cable coming away from the box. Which is correct? The original fuse is in the lower slot as per the instructions on the hardwire kit. https://ibb.co/pwdWcFd 2) Any problems running on the above 2 ignition only fuses with 2 independent dash cams? |

Got a viofo that's been running for a couple of years now. Nice discrete dash cam that does the job.
