Ronstein did say earlier in thread (page 1) that his driving style & use had him at around 23k before the 1st service on 2 335d cars which he’s owned. So 24k would be possible by the sound of it, Ronstein said it’s possibly been sat on a motorway doing the 30k miles it’s done.

which Car Supermarket is it?
Ive bought 2 BMW from Motorpoint a 335d F31 with 10k and an F25 X3 30d with 15k. Both have been spot on cars, in fact my 335 was recently written off and I got back what I paid for the car. You wont get the obsequious BMW service but you normally get a good deal. You pays your money and takes your choice. if the cars 12 /18mths old it wont be battered as the Car Supermarkets don't sell shite as with their margins they cant afford to sell a duff vehicle. |

So a dealer has just told me the service schedule on a 335d is usually 15-20k miles or 2 years, but depending on a cars sort of use it can extend beyond 20k miles but definitely shouldn’t go over the 2 year point. So as the car was 18months old when 1st serviced all should be good.
Does that sound about right?? I’m hoping to get this tied up today, just waiting on a picture of the service screen from the idrive. |

Mine went over 22k before it's first service. Usually means no short trips, my minimum was usually 20 miles

Sounds ok and obviously a motorway car by the looks of it. Pro nav is definitely not part of msport or msport plus pack, business nav would put me off just because if the screen size but liveable with.
However the engine will make you smile (even if slower than a 340.. ) Obviously check the usual for any car, tyres, cold start, all gadgets working etc If you do get it, enjoy! |

Pulling my hair out here, on tuesday I asked for a pic of the “service” screen on idrive & have had nothing, numerous emails sent & a phone call, but nothing, it doesn’t inspire me with confidence to put a deposit on the car & travel 250 miles to get the car.

I did feel the same about Pro Nav but after thinking about it, in my current car I upgraded the media/Nav system when I ordered the car & to be honest I haven’t used it at all, I have Dynaudio in my current car so Harmon Kardon is more important to me than Pro Nav (that’s what I’m telling myself anyway ) I’ve said to the dealer the day I travel up I want the car stone cold so I can check the cold start up & also not to service the car as I want to keep it’s full bmw history going. |

I've brought all of my car's ex-lease as they usually tend to have been serviced on time and depending on the age usually spent most of their life sat on the motorway
I bought mine at 18months old with 33k miles on it (520d) No issues at all once service history and overall condition has been looked at, usually just the driver seat which has been sat in! |

Just a little update to this, I decided against buying the car I started the thread about, was unsure about the colour combo of champagne quartz & cohiba brown merino interior.
So I continued my search & brought a 330d into the criteria & I came across a 2017 san merino blue f31 on the AUC website, fell in love with it but as it was late the dealer was closed so I sent my online enquiry & got a phone call next morning telling me someone had put a deposit on it the evening before, I was gutted, it had everything I wanted except a pano roof, it had adaptive suspension, Pro Nav plus, HUD, reversing camera, m sport plus pack, 20000 miles. I’m still disappointed, I asked how often that colour f31 comes up for sale, not very often I was told, was told it’s a £1500 option colour, it was well priced I think at £25500 So today I put a deposit on a 2017 mineral grey f31 335d, 13000 miles on it, pano roof, m sport plus pack, Pro Nav, rear parking cam, high beam assist. The dealer hasnt got it yet so my deposit is refundable, they get the car on Monday as that’s when the customer is collecting their new car, I go to look at the car on Tuesday, if all is well I’ll do paperwork & they’ll deliver it to me later in the week, they’ve given me a decent trade in price as well, I never expected to be able to get a 2017 car in my budget so I’m quite happy overall.

Resigned myself to fact it just wasn't meant to be. Thought it would be ages before another came along. Low and behold two weeks later I'm on the phone to another dealer. Car has just arrived on transporter! My 'perfect spec' again but on a 2017 335d F31. Deal done and collected this week. You have to be right on top of the AUC website now if you want a loaded example, because you can't setup alerts anymore. Watch it like a hawk as new cars get uploaded at all times of day. Don't wait until photos go up or you will miss out. Enjoy you new car OP.

I have bought ex-lease, it's fine and I suspect it was driven fairly nicely as the hard drive was full of kids type music, and nothing else! Hard to believe mum was smoking up the rears whilst playing 'nellie the elephant'. Also it had just 21k and was really in lovely condition.
I did notice when I was in the sales office, a board showing where their stock came from, and it was virtually all BCA stock, and all 2-3 years old. These will be mostly ex lease/fleet cars. I think that's just a reality of buying from specialist independents and supermarkets. What a lot of people don't know is that in the corporate/fleet world, leasing is extremely common as it's normally cheaper overall. It's hard to avoid looking at lease cars when shopping for a 2-3 year old BMW. Add to the above, that any 2-3 year old car, whether leased or privately financed, or even bought outright, will have been driven by someone that knew they had a warranty in place for their entire time with the car, and all are as likely as each other to have not worried too much about how they drove it. I don't see ex-lease as a reason to believe the the cars are on average treated any worse. End of the day, my car was £45k when new, and 21k miles later it was £21,5k. A big part of that vale drop is down to the fact you don't really know how nicely it's been looked after. But it's also a HUGE saving so a little risk is justified imo. Even if once in a while you get stung, it's throughout a lifetime of buying used cars it's still probably a very good value way to buy. |

Not to mention I just got a comprehensive aftermarket warranty on my 430d for £750 for two years! And by comprehensive I mean... If I blow a speaker it's covered. |

In the last 15 years of driving all my cars were fleet/ex-lease cars mostly coming from Auction houses as I used to work in the motortrade.
I wouldn't hesitate not one bit about buying one again. All of the cars had full histories, great maintenance record, and the fact when you own a lease car, all the service stuff is included in the deal, which means cars always have proper tyres, proper services and are generally not neglected as people get penalised for it. |

Yes, it's an ex company car, fully expensed and the last guy to drive it probably didn't care too much about it's long term longevity. But on the other hand, he didn't pay for maintenance so would also be perfectly happy to take it to the main dealer each service and also pay for any advisory work suggested. One thing for certain, a company car driver never says no to a dealer recommendation. It's not their money, they will always say yes. So the choice really comes down to choosing between a privately owned car that was loved and looked after, but also probably avoided certain expenses before trading in... Or, an ex lease car that may have been driven hard but will also have been maintained by main dealer no questions asked. Take your choice between the two.. But also consider that most such cars will have 20-40k on the clock at most when they're bought second hand - and then consider that almost any car these days will do 100k with no particular care at all. It's not very much of a gamble at all really. |
