Experiences with STEP cars?
One of the cars I’m considering is a 2018 340i with low miles (< 2K) — but it is a STEP car that can’t be CPO’d or get a BMW extended warranty. My impression is that the car was basically disassembled and reassembled repeatedly by technicians in training.
I searched the forum and found some previous discussion, which basically noted the concerns you would expect in theory. But I didn’t see much discussion about people’s actual experiences. By contrast, there is a lot of discussion about driving school cars. There are posts from people who bought driving school cars, as well as lots of posts from people who have been to the driving school about what those cars go through. Are there people here with similar experiences with STEP cars? For people who have purchased them, have there been any issues in practice? For people who were in the STEP program, what actually happens to these cars? Anything that would give you pause about buying one? |
