This is where BMW do the job better (generally) This has only come about in the last 10 years or so tho. I'm sure some of us can remember walking in to a BMW dealer and feeling very awkward and dare you ask for a discount
Lol no .

Flash your I.D and see the salesman visibly groan

i had a phone call apologising this morning regarding my visit at weekend.

From my own personal experience, I've had exemplary service from Jaguar dealers (bought a couple in the past) - not so much from Jaguar themselves. Slightly more old school/old boy than BMW but very relaxed and with a more laissez faire attitude - been given cars for weekends, and always addressed by my name by most of their staff.

But then I get the same from my local BMW dealer.

Devils advocate : Watching some of the thrusting young-bloods that swagger into the BMW dealerships full of self-importance I can't help but muse that they do themselves no favours either when it comes to building up a rapport.

I said I will look elsewhere.

Was then pretty much asked on phone that ideally I would need to commit to a purchase before I could test drive - not in so many words.

At least I managed to get an approximate valuation on my car though lol.

Although it was slightly bug splattered.. Lol.

I got a story to share too recently.

Basingstoke Mercedes dealer.
I went in to the dealer armed with a printout from broad speed, i got straight to the point and said i got this quote and since you're my local, i want to see if you can match this price.

bla bla bla.....did some calculations, broadspeed was 14.9% off list price and they can't do it. Best price would be £1500 above the broadspeed price ( region of 11% instead) . OK so i called broadspeed and only found out the price includes a finanace discount, and it would be £1500 more if i dont take finance. So i went back to my local Merc dealer,

The £31500 became £32800, the sales coincidentally was having a dayoff and he never wrote down a written quote file for me, so we had to do it all on the paper again. I went mad and said, last week when i came to speak to your collegue he said it was 1500 on top of broadspeed price. so it should have been 31500 and now a week later you tell me the price has gone up??!?!?!

Wait for the response...

Sir, my collegue actually has retracted what he said... he said you must of heard it incorrectly, he said it would be AT LEAST 1500 on top of the broadspeed price!!!

(I know what i fooking hear you useless lying counts)

Well pinned the wife down tonight.

Mondeo booked in for servicing, MOT June 8th, will have dealer do a proper estimate on its value.

They then have a final chance to better their original £500 off a Fiesta ST3, as Drive The deal currently have it at £3246 discount.

It will have Mountune upgrade from new.

Failing that a certain forum member will be getting a PM.

Bloody cars!

Lol having reread that, I could have phrased it better.

However, between that post and now, have decided to bugger off to Athens for a bit.

She is now scaring me by perusing various car manufacturers web sites looking at cars lol.

Selfishly I want her to keep under a £200 a month budget, as that leaves me £700.

Anyone want to buy a wife? Can you put them on Gumtree?

That first one is bloody expensive when you move it to 3 month deposit and 24 months personal.

For her car we will likely just get 24 months pcp and buy.
