340i exhaust conversion on 335d

Sorry if this has been covered, but how easy is this to do..
I know there are the expensive Remus/Akropovic options...

But can a 340i standard exhaust be fitted, obviously with some fettling..
I only want to do it for the cosmetics..

Thanks

Anything can be made to fit but it'd be easier to just remove the box and have two pipes come directly off the centre pipe.

Yeh I know what you mean and maybe the way to go..

But I thought there was few people who have done the conversion fairly cost effectively in here...
Or have they gone the cobra direction which is relatively inexpensive..

Is the 340i one compatible, as you see em for sale when people have upgraded to Mppsk etc.

Cheers

I've fitted the 40i back box to my 430d GC, the Powerflow exhaust place where I had it fitted cut my original pipe about half way along the car and made a custom pipe to fit to the 40i box, it cost me £100 plus VAT for fitting, I'm very happy with the result.

I also fitted a 340i back box to my F31 335D and the back box cost £100 and the fitting about the same. Well worth doing. The diameter of the 340i piping is bigger than the 335D so it slips over the existing pipe before being welded into place.

The hanging brackets needed moving slightly so the exhaust fitted squarely & level.

Thanks for the reply guys... so sounds like I can get 340i backbox off eBay
And get it fitted on by a local garage.

One question, what do you do with the actuator flap, guessing has to be fixed open??

Spot weld to keep it open

Flap will stay open if the actuator and spring clip are left fitted but drive spindle can also just be spot welded.
