Hello,

I just realized that my second spare key fob for my F30 is no longer working ( I am certain it is the key fob itself). I would like to have a replacement. However, my dealer is charging $500 CAD for just the fob.

The key pairing process is really easy and anyone can do. But I was wondering if there is another key fob that I could buy? I was hoping to pay much less, since it is just backup. I'd want to be able to lock, unlock, and start the car. Is there a cheaper key available that I could pair?

Call around and see if another dealer will do it cheaper. But you don't really have a choice. The link provided above has nothing to do with what you need.

It's not a plug and play direct swap from the old key to the new. Requires soldering and modification of the internal boards. So you're paying for that and the key cutting service, not just the external shell.

Ah I see, thanks. Ya that would make sense to just buy it from the link you posted then.

Ya BMW OEM is the way to go for something like a key.
