I'd be very happy for a sensible party to take over, PMQs will be interesting today!
One interesting scenario is that this continues to a point where Theresa May technically can't muster a majority even with DUP support. If there were an election you get another minority government, with TIG and perhaps the Lib Dems propping up one party or the other, or voting on a case-by-case basis. So the interesting question is, if those groups are powerful enough to stymie the most extreme policies of both sides, who would you prefer to be the minority government? If it was the same faces, I might have to consider the Tories for the first time ever. On the other hand if Bojo or any of the ERG lunatics took over from May, I think I might want to throw the dice on Labour. Just horrible either way.

Rumour is that there is £50M of funding available to this group to set up a new party. So will be interesting to see if the initial trickle becomes more substantial.

The Guardian has a good take on it.....

"In a single day, the Labour party has lost Luciana Berger and “gained” Derek Hatton. As swaps go, this isn’t dissimilar to giving someone an orgasm and them giving you gonorrhoea...."

Yep, a centrist pro-Europe, pro public spending, pro business party without a complete twat at the top would suit me just fine

I fundamentally hope they do try.

I don't care if they're going against the referendum result, I want common sense and intelligence to prevail, more than I want to protect a flawed democratic process.

I like Frankie Boyle's take on Brexit.

He doesn't think that people don't believe in experts anymore. He thinks that the main problem is that the British people have strong opinions......based upon nothing at all.

With the exception of a few who have a moral backbone, they're all the same and either in it for themselves or having their strings pulled by others, irrespective of party.

Sounds a bit like Theresa May's view, set in concrete, can't be changed.

Thing is, our country is one huge business. If a big business decides on a strategy, and before they carry it out, realise it's fundamentally flawed, the successful companies are flexible and change their strategies.

Those that don't and march on blindly relying on hope alone, against all the evidence, disappear pretty quickly.

We're marching on with hope alone being our only chance.

Best way for Corbyn to defeat this is to send Abbott to join them. Won't be so "popular" then......

..and why do you think that is?

My take is that the "developed" world as a whole has become expert at creating huge constructs that only a few have a hope of understanding with less that a year's constant study. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!.

Who REALLY reads everything they can on a subject these days? Not many, I'll bet.

Can you actually RELY on the writer(s) giving you all the facts? No, because every writer these days either has their own agenda or that of their publisher.

As somebody with a career in science and engineering that makes me sick to my stomach. Facts are facts, that you may not like them is just part of life. But, it seems that threatens everybody's sense of control these days. "Don't bother me with facts, my mind is made up" has never been so prevalent as it is today.

Doesn't sending Abbott anywhere contravene the Geneva and Hague Conventions, let alone the disarmament treaties post Soviet collapse.

Of the present crew, only the Lib Dems ever say anything that speaks to me.

If it forms, I will happily vote for Chuka's new party.
