Top Tier Diesel

Has anyone on here tried "Top Tier Diesel"?

I've gotten fuel from Costco but I believe it's just as good as Sams club + Shell where I normally go.
The worst I've encountered was ARCO and my mpg dropped dramatically. I easily get 300 miles on half a tank and with ARCO I had reached like 200, it was bad.

I knew about top tier gasoline, but not diesel. Surprised the list is so small

And no Costco anywhere near me carries it.

Have no experience with diesel but STRICTLY run Top Tier fuel in my F30. Literally every time, without exception.

Highest octane, highest quality.

Common choices where I live are Shell, 76, Chevron, Sinclair.

FWIW... Costco is also Top Tier, Ive just never been a member.

According to that list there are no Top Tier diesel locations within 400 miles of my location. We fill up at Sam's Club (best price) or Shell (closest). Did a run to Long Beach and back on a tank of Shell at 45.7 mpg fill-to-fill. Town running has seen as "bad" as 35.9 on Sam's stuff. Either way I think we are doing OK.

Im confused...

Without looking it up, Ill ask - are the TOP TIER designations different for diesel?

I would think Shell surely has TOP TIER diesel, no?

Shell does not purvey their own diesel, each franchise can choose what they serve, higher bio mixes at some stations around these parts.
I exclusively fuel with Chevron and Unocal 76.

Also that website looks like advertisement/marketing for costco. Note BMW is not part of their study group. I have to believe it is just Carb state diesel.

This is a great thread. I have been fueling exclusively with Chevron and sometimes Exxon, from busy stations.

It may just be me, but everything that Costco advertises vs. price borders on too good to be true. It would be great to have actual tests of these fuels.

Around the Bay Area I'm starting to see multiple Union 76 stations have their own brand R99 renewable diesel. It's actually priced well too, so I'm giving it a try.

I'm unsure of the requirement for "Top Tier" diesel other than what it says on the webpage posted in the OP. Shell are not part of the Top Tier deal and neither are Chevron, but I won't go to my local Chevron as they are zip code gougers.

Surprised to see so little approved diesel manufacturers....

SHELL makes arguably the best quality pump gasoline on the planet.

No Costco near me carries it. I just go to Royal farms (unbranded Exxon) and every 10k put a can of seafoam through the tank. Change fuel filter every 25k also.

*Knocks on wood* no issues here at 105K miles.
