Out of Free Service - Where to go (Brisbane)

Hi all

I recently just paid out my car and own it outright. It has also come out of warranty and free service (4 years).

Where do you F3x owners take your cars post warranty and free service?

I live in the Greenslopes area and would prefer a tune friendly mechanic who knows their stuff and can do regular maintenance at a non BMW-taxed price.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Feng,
where did you end up going and how was it?
I just recently purchased a second hand 2012 328 and it's nearly due for the 60k service.

Cheers

I took the last service to BMW as I had a few other post warranty things to do.

I still haven't found anything close so might just have to bite the bullet and take it to somewhere good and sort transportation out afterward

Based on website, Prestige and Performance looks good. Have already heard of Rencal and Brisbane Euro Specialists but they're a bit out of the way for me (as is BTuned).

There are a couple of places in Coorparoo (Brisbane Motor Works is one of them that I was thinking of trying), but haven't looked much deeper than that. Still have a good 9 months or 12,000k before my next service. At the rate I drive now it is definitely going to be 9 months before I need to do anything.

Sorry I couldn't help more

Did you look into extending the "free servicing". When mine was close to running out in the 328 I thought about extending the servicing plan. It was more than the original $1k for 5yrs/80k km but was still worth it. Unfortunately I cannot recall how much it was to extend the servicing.

If I recall correctly the maximum was 10 years and or 160k km.

I ended up trading for a 340i so didn't extend.

I have looked into the so called alternative Bmw specialists as well and tbh it wasn't that great and in some instances was more than the dealer! Even if the price was same or few bucks less I just find having a loan car convenient and if something happened to your car it is so much easier to get BMW dealer to fix it.

This is talking from personal experience, ymmv

I'm approaching my first paid service post 4 years free - $320 basically for an inspection and a car wash. The oil change isn't apparently due for another 8000kms based on them telling me 25k between changes. So much for Condition based service.

In this case, I'm thinking:
- $320 inspection. They can tell me what needs doing and I can choose to do something myself (e.g. cabin filter)
- make them do an oil change as I really can't be bothered coming in again in a few months for just an oil change.
- fix the airbag recall.

I'm going to ask about the extended fixed service plan - which could be reasonable value if it discounted the $320 inspection fee. Any experiences on how much?
