They very, very much rated their 6 month long term F31 330D that they had:

(They mention twin turbo in the review of the xdrive, but I assume they're confusing BMW's twinpower branding...)

It's because these half-witted hacks have no idea what they are driving most of the time. Odd really when it's their job and they are giving an "opinion" on a car. Ignore these idiots and drive the car yourself.

I read the previous 6 month one, that one and the autoexpress one.

They love it, then they don't.

Okay, I have only had a couple test drives, however I am not sure I would have it in sport mode in town.
They seem to be complaining about fuel economy for a 3.0 engine only giving. They could have provided figures from their drive test.... Did they drive it?

In fact same photographs as Autoexpress.

Same company?

Someone really phoned this in.

This is a car which is recognisably as quick (if not more so) than it's sDrive cousin with the added sure-footedness of xDrive yet the reviewer describes it as "heavy" and "lethargic" (before later describing it as "seriously quick in a straight line"?). Perhaps the reviewer stepped out of the wrong side of bed that day. Either that or he's just stepped out of an M3.

Fair enough if it feels that way but it simply doesn't reconcile with the 330d sDrive long-term test and the reviewer makes little effort to explain why. Is this really just an indictment of xDrive rather than the F31 platform and the 330d engine?

I can't tell :

It's a strange review, their gripe is almost against the 3.0d as opposed to the X Drive. It's like he wanted to love it but the editor told him not to..
