Budget big brakes install...went smooth though the rear caliper bolts are a bear. Briefly considered slotted/dimpled rotors but decided to stick with regulars. Also did SS lines. Since the car already has adaptive suspension, now all I need is VSS and the track pack is complete!

Weather finally got above 55-60 degrees so gave the 340i a nice two-bucket wash and a quick little detail. Getting Ceramic done next week.

I finally started my car after purchasing it and putting her in the garage.
Put the valve cover back in place and all the trims.
Bleed the cooling circuit
Primed the oil circuit
Installed my bilsteins B4.
Changed the right side mirror.
Got the car through safety check. (Ontario requirement before licensing)

Listing to the engine roar was special... Can't wait to drive my car.

First set of new wheels. Loving this style. Need to clean them off and the car needs a bath now to. Theres this wax gunk all over my wheels, tires, and car itself from the install.. I guess they lube the hell out of these wheels before they put them into tires? Never knew that. Better pics coming tomorrow.

Broke my lip off again. I guess she still looks ok without it (center pic).

*edit

I took the lip off and reattached the matte black splitters. I definitely dig it.

Another thing I figured out, have to use wired Android auto, phone does wireless, but its kind of buggy. Sometimes it doesn't advance to the next song with Pandora. Wired, no issues, however there is a downside, no more fast phone charging...but I can deal with that. I used to use the snap in adapter, with my old iPhone , yeah, I know, could have just used a USB Apple charging chord, but car already came with the device as it was used. I have enhanced Bluetooth with my car so I previously used 2 phones for the car,, one for just streaming music, and the Android for calls.. Using Android auto for navigation, streaming and calls,, seems to work out fine, I will post if I discover any other issues. Software loaded was this.
Nice! The sw version indicates that it's a Carlinkit unit.

Does everything work, e.g. Android Auto automatically launches, calls route through the oem bluetooth connection, split-screen view, automatic night mode switching based on the headlights being on or off?

Everything seems to be working, but not without a few compromises...such as, do yourself a favor and delete all of your bluetooth devices in your car. start from the beginning. Load only for calls, not audio for the car. This is is only concerning Android. On mmi unit, use car microphone . Download Android auto for your phone, and make adjustments, NOT connected to the car. Such as, do not use wireless, even if your phone can handle it. Do not connect with bluetooth with your phone, use the car mike, turn off Wi-Fi before you connect with the vehicle. This only concerning first time setup. when making calls, switch back to Idrive screen, when the person answers, go back to the mmi interface and procede as usual. Don't know about Apple but these are some of the things I figured out over the last few days.

That's interesting. I have a Carlinkit unit and use Android Auto wirelessly with no issues. But the sw that it came with was missing key features like automatic night mode switching, auto-launch, calls using the oem bluetooth.

I've since switched to the custom sw from the Andream MMI thread and it has all of the above features. I expected that the latest Carlinkit sw would have added these missing features.

More power to you, first day or two, I had nothing but small issues and work around. But I was trying stuff trial and error, until it worked the way I wanted to. Wireless Android auto, has two many stupid issues. Either during calls, sound constantly dropping out, or bluetooth just freezing. Just said to hell with it and started using it wired. Haven't driven at night yet to even test out the night and day thing, didn't even know that was an issue. Wired still has its issues, but less than Wireless. Overall, I'm happy, so I won't complain.

The microphone issue turned out to be when parked. the person could hear me and conversely I could here them, its just when in motion, it was an issue because the cars microphone was noise canceling and the mmi interface was not. maybe I could eventually adjust it, but my patience ran out. So hence the workaround. But it does work...not perfect, but does work.

Figured out two things that I don't like about the mmi box, 1) Can't turn off Wi-Fi with it, not so sure if I like that, while it is on, broadcasting for anyone to join the car's network. 2) Take the first issue and apply that to bluetooth as well. There doesn't seem to be an option to turn off.

I made the first payment on my new-to-me 340i yesterday, and in ~45 minutes I'll drop it off to be tinted. 3M Crystalline CR40 all around, CR70 on the windshield on Alpine White. Pictures forthcoming.

Cleaned the engine bay...sprayed with Simple Green, let soak for a few mins, then rinsed. Looks brand new.

Congratulations to you, in advance! Not too shabby for a first car! This is my . . . 7th? Much nicer than my '86 Oldsmobile.

Stormtrooper

Added a glossy black spoiler, glossy black kidneys, blackout side markers, and tint all around. Newbie on here and learning how to post, so not sure if the picture is coming through.

Wanting to switch up the front bumper and side skirts, but having trouble finding just what I want.
