Again for me this boils down to being the lesser of two evils.

Robbing a small limited company where a couple of tonnes going missing will effect a lot of people I would not be cool with and would pass on accepting their services.

Robbing a large PLC where no one is even going to notice a few tonnes of the black stuff has gone missing I can live with.

I respect this may seem abnormal and wrong in some people's eyes, but again, you asked so I answered.
Too right - a bit like not paying the tax you should... and of course robbing a plc is robbing the shareholders, the pension funds for people saving for retirement like me...

You clearly have no morals, that's fine it's your choice. I do and think people like you with wealthy lifestyles robbing people worse off than them are complete shisters...

I do, they are just different to yours.

Judge me once you have walked a mile in my shoes.

I used one to clear out an over grown area of garden at my new house. Worked really hard and was happy to be paid into a bank account. Only odd thing was he kept adding free extras to the job e.g. power washing the drive!

Would I use one for a more skilled job... Not unless I had a recommendation from someone I know but that would apply to any trades person.

To me them doing cash in hand work and not paying tax on it is the lesser of two evils.

At the end of the day they could choose to do what many of their brethren do and enter your home while you and your family are sleeping and ransack it.
They could then fill your car with a load of your worldly possessions and drive off with it.

I know which of the two I would rather they do.

I look at it like paying them to do a bit of cash in hand is preventing them from having the need to make money in very nasty ways.

You probably don't look at it like that, but as I said you asked so I answered.
So it's not the "honest hard graft" that you claim.

The "good ones" as you put it, will do some work and steal from HMRC (income tax payers) rather than directly from your home. Seems kind of like blackmail if you ask me.

The bad ones will simply turn your house over.

Sums it up nicely. The travelling community would resort to immediate violence. Any civilised person would just say, "Aye right, jog on mate. Who you kidding and walk away".

Going by my experience of the travelling folk over the last 40odd years I wouldn't trust any of them.

As an example I worked on a market for many year and you could tell the day a large group of travellers pitched up somewhere near as thefts went up and a load of balshy very young kids would blatantly steel in front of you. Every time you caught one you would get an ear full from them and the parents accusing you of racism etc as they proudly stood watching their 11 year old pocket goods for free.

All I have seen is a once normal bit of field, verge, park, garden is taken over by a load of caravans and range rovers for a few days and ruined with god knows how much rubbish left everywhere.

The wife deals with them on a daily basis and has never had anything decent to say about any of them , they are always on the "take" and are always wanting a "deal" on soiled items that they have damaged themselves before trying to pay for them.

Dare to question them about their attempted blagging and there are threats of violence and intimidation against staff regarding following them home and we will find out where you stay etc. Any person who does that to young people and middle aged women are scum in my book and all for a burst bag of sand / cement.

No time for them , at all.

As loads of people stole from everyone it was never a case of blaming anyone, while they stole from us lot, we never stole from them, as a minimum it would mean broken limbs if caught.

Roll on a few years and most of the places I have lived have been rural, they are the only people I know that can terrorise a small village, cause over a £100k in damage, most of it deliberate, eventually get evicted and then parish council have to clean up.

I have had some jobs done by them, most are reasonable tradesman, had roof facial bits done by some I know.

In small does some are okay, however a a community at large they seem to go out of their way to cause as much damage as possible, refuse to clean up and trash decent areas.

They do as much as they can to perpetuate the hate and dislike to them.

If they want to fit in, don't trash areas, clean up, don't terrorise local villages and communities with their usual hardman tactics.

If they are unable to do that, then I utterly fail to see how anyone can defend them.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/98...uman-excrement

In Cambridgeshire a number of villages have a local alarm / callout system if travellers are in the area.
Similar problems where I live, leafy suburban Surrey. Currently a big problem with 'travellers' pitching up in parks etc, threatening anyone else that wants to use it, then eventually leaving, with a big cleanup operation in their wake. It's cost the council 10s of thousands.

They recently broke into grounds of office block awaiting redevelopment, about a mile from here. Beat up the security guard, stole some listed statues, and when they eventually left, it was clear that some of the vehicles were not taxed / insured. But of course nothing was done about that.

Well morals are the principles of right and wrong - so if yours are different then your definition of wrong is different..... and there are some grey areas about what is right and wrong, although tax evasion and drug taking are not up for debate for most people....

If I walked a mile in your shoes I might be accused of stealing them - and that doesn't fit with my morals as its illegal.....

To me morals don't change based on how tough your life has been or what you have lived for, wrong is wrong whatever your history....
