Bummer, but you're doing the right thing.
Keeping a regular eye on tyre pressures and the state of tread on the edges is the best defence as, once it's heavily worn, I have found it will still wear out ahead of time even if you correct the tracking / pressure issue. |

When mine was like that once they actually wouldn't do the geometry until a new tyre was fitted - which makes sense. I didn't have them fit the tyre so they didn't say that so they could get the money for supplying a tyre... I dare say the geometry will be out but low pressure is more often than not the main culprit in my experience as it greatly accelerates the wear on the edges...
