I have 2014 f30 m-sports and for last few days my brakes are squeaking a lot. I used to have same problem with my previous set of brake when the car was under the warranty and dealer used to fix it. I am not sure what exactly they used to do but I remember he said something about scraping the sharp edges and putting some kind of lubricant.

Now since I am out of warranty, I am planning to go to some local indy shop. Anyone know what is the best way to fix this squeaking issue on m-sports brake pad. That way I can let the indy shop know exactly what to do.

I still have 20K (front) and 60K (back) life left on the brake.

You want them to chamfer the edges of the pad to reduce them rubbing on any little lip on top or bottom of your rotor. You also want them to re apply, and liberally, ceramic brake lube. I use permatex (PN 24125) and have great success. I also switched out the oem pads because they seem to be more prone to create brake squeal because of how much dust they create.

Squeaking comes from metal rubbing against metal. You stop that with this:

He is absolutely right. I went for Brembo pads. Noise never came back

BMW brakes use brake paste as a requirement to prevent squeaking. If it was not applied correctly or was removed then it must be cleaned and reapplied. Some guys or their car wash blasts their wheels with a spray power washer which can blast away the brake paste. See photo for brake paste application.

I picked up a bottle of that and hope to try it out today. If that doesn't work, I'll try the Permatex 80653. Same sort of stuff but Silicone based.

I havent heard any noise from my Hawk 5.0 pads - hot or cold.

I found if I use the hawk brake pad paste it’s fine. Sometimes I get a squeal or two but it goes away about 30-60 seconds after driving. Where did you apply the paste?

I have Hawk 5.0 pads on all four corners and have no squeal at all. Just used their paste on the back of the pads, then bedded in the pads.

I've only ever had one brake install result in squeaking which was fixed by adding some more pad lube.

Squeaks on higher performance pads when cold is sometimes just inherent to those pads.

Also squeaking can be solved by going through a bedding process.

Hi All

I had the same problem. BMW F30 LCI. Large blue brake system (370mm front brake disc, 345mm rear brake disc). It has a factory brake disc. I tried several brake pads. Factory, TRW, ATE Ceramic, Quaro Ceramic brake pads. Unfortunately, none of them provided a solution. A car mechanic has successfully used the EBC Yellowstuff insert on several cars (BMW M8, BMW X6M). I also bought one for the front brake and so far I have used over 1200km without any problems.

Maybe this mechanic finally installed them correctly? Pads don't squeak. Metal to metal contact does.

Some pads will squeak no matter what when cold. Ceramics tend to do it a little. More track oriented pads basically all squeak when cold.
