Thanks. I actually purchased some gold pins from an electronics shop and had the PC Repair guys next door solder them in and bridge them. I’m just hoping now that my wiring scheme is the same as yours. I have a 2017 F30, do u know if the harness/wiring is the same as yours. I bought two switches just in case, but I’m hoping I don’t short out a module or something like that.

Also, I have a 2017 F30, will the wiring/bridging be the same with my car as yours? I just received my mirrors and haven't got the chance to look at the wiring harness for the mirror yet.
You can just buy the pins on ebay or maybe even Amazon.

The PCB's for these controllers are all the same, I have done many of these on F10's, F20,F30,F25 etc...

As you say, it saves cutting and splicing wires - that way, if you ever sell the car you can put it back to stock quickly and sell the folding mirrors as a plug and play solution (with coding)
Thanks for clarifying that for me!! I have a someone doing the mirror installation now and I'll be coding it afterwards. I have eSys on a laptop and I also have the BimmerCode app. All I really want to do is have the mirrors open and close without delay when I lock/unlock the car. Which approach would u recommend? Which is easier? Thanks.

I wanted to thank all of you guys for chiming in and helping me out with all of this. Although this didn’t fully qualify as a DYI cause I had help with the switch and installation, (had major trouble removing door panels) I still saved a ton of money when compared to BMW’s rates for this retrofit thanks to this forum and you guys as well. I ended up just setting comfort access to activ everything else seemed to have set itself to activ as well as far as the mirrors are concerned. Everything worked great with the bridging on the switch and all worked without a hitch after coding. Again, many thanks for the OP of this thread and everyone else who’s chimed in!! 👍🏼

Followed the fantastic guidance on this thread and successfully fitted power folding , dipping mirrors today.
Used the soldering pins into the switch and bridging them method ... i did have an issue at first with no power to the passenger mirror but it was just my naff soldering at fault ( should wear my glasses!!!).
Wish i had done this mod ages ago.... cheers to all on this thread for the advice and instruction... now if i could just get the 6wa retrofit to work i'd be a happy camper !!!

2016 328i exterior mirrors for sale. Recently retrofitted lane change warning with full mirror swap. Hence selling the old mirrors.

The mirrors has
1. Auto dimming
2. High gloss shadow line
3. Seat memory
4. Electric folding

Just be careful about the pins you bridge: (my colors were different than yours btw, I kept yours to be clearer)
Pin 7 to pin 1 (Brown) : Ground
Pin 8 to pin 2 (Blu green striped) : Lin Bus
Pin 9 to pin 3 OR 10 : Power 12v ==> BE CAREFUL HERE: as you initially wrote "pin 9 to pin 12" which is incorrect as there should be no wire in pin 12. Both pin 3 and pin 10 provide 12v, so you should pick one. I chose pin 10 and it's working well. Pins 7/8/9 are connected to the passenger side so by bridging these with the appropriate pins from the driver side you make everything work without cutting wires.

Good evening Pogne,

I also embarked on this retrofit installation but I only have the driver's side working.

Can you help me ?

Done this to my 2016 F36 non memory seats, both my non power fold mirrors were 6 pin, replaced them with 5 pin power fold ones of eBay and also replaced door switch and took 3 pins from old door switch and used them in the new one and shorted the pins with a bit of solder.

Coded 430 with E-Sys then used bimmercode to enable options.

All went smoothly except when I first tried to code 430 I got errors, my data files just needed updated.

Fairly straightforward and easy retrofit.

I am assuming replacing the F30 Basic 6-pin mirror with a 5-pin mirror would not work without getting the correct 6-pin LIN driver's side switch? Or the old 8-pin Basic side mirror switch can be rewired to provide the driver side mirror the signals needed for the LIN?

Thank you for the link. After watching the video and reading this thread, I think there is no need to run new wires to the passenger side mirror. Can re-use existing Basic wiring and make them into PWR, GND and LIN.

As far as the button presses working with the LIN, I ended up buying a new driver's side switch for $17 on Ebay because I do not think the Basic switches are properly recognized by the LIN.

Hi what did you do. I have the same color wires.
Is this the right color or pin?

1 and 7 yellow black with purple
2 and 8 yellow with blue green
9 and 11 brown with blue black

I have connected the switch and the folding mirror driverside.
But the window and the folding button does nothing. It is plug and play the driverside?

Thank you

Help us to to help you: did you do what TheNine90 recommended?

Give us details of what was your setup before and now (car model, year, driver switch type, mirror pins, mirror features).

No not yet. I want to know ive the pin or colors are correct

1 and 7 yellow black with purple
2 and 8 yellow with blue green
9 and 11 brown with blue black

I have the same colors as Abi. See page 2 and not like the topic starter

Its a F30 from 2015 driver switch is from F30 2017.
The “new” mirrors as 5 pins with heating and Auto dimming and of course electric fold. And the mirrors on my car now have 6 pins with only heating

The wire colors help you identify which pin is which, but focus on connect pins(!) together not wires as the wire colors can vary.

Driver mirror:

Ground Pin 4 to pin 1 on new Switch
LIN Pin 5 to pin 2 on new Switch
Power pin 6 to pin 3 on new Switch

Passenger mirror:

Ground pin 4 to pin 7 on new Switch
LIN pin 5 to pin 8 on new Swifch
Power pin 6 to pin 9 on new Switch

New switch:

Solder bridge between :

Pins 1-7. (ground)
Pins 2-8. (LIN)
Pins 3-9 and pins 9-10. (Power)
Pin 5,6,12 not used

Info:

Pin 11 is switch ground
Pin 4 is LIN from FEM pin 42
Pin 10 is power in to switch

fe7565 1 more question. I have connected like you said and folding mirrors dont work. Is that correct because i read in the other massage in this topic that the driver side works without coding.

I have to add 430 to FA and vo code FEM and then it will work?
