Exhaust flap question

I was messing around with the exhaust flap opening using the one.maven app. When I open the exhaust flap on my 330e it opens to 90 degrees and quickly settles at an opening of roughly 45 degrees. It's this normal? I thought the flap would open to 90 degrees (maximum opening) and stay there?

I have only see it open to 90 degrees, and then snap 100% shut.

Yes mine is opening weird. It opens 100% for a split second and then stays open at 50%.

It's there a way of teaching or calibrating it to stay open at 100% when it does open?

Don't have an answer for that one. It doesn't sound like it is opening properly.

If you put it back to normal with the app, put it into "sport" mode, and rev it past 5000 rpm, does it pop 100% open, or do the same thing? Putting it back to comfort mode when idling should have it close again.

I'll give that a try. Maybe it half opens in sport until it reaches 5k rpm and then opens fully...

Not sure. There was a table that showed how the modes worked with the flap, but they always indicated open/closed.

It may be a hybrid thing tho to encourage the cats to warm up faster? I'm not really sure

I bought the exhaust flap blank plug 18302411427 from BMW and I used the one.maven app to open the flap. While it opened to it's most open position I held it with a small bar. The flap motor didn't try to close it any further when I removed the bar. Unplugged the plug from the flap controller and inserted the bank plug into the harness. The open socket on the flap control unit was then sealed from possible moisture.
Now I've bypassed the flap control. Have to say I really like the sound the exhaust makes when running the engine.
