Is there any way to replace this?

I know the interior trim can be replaced but it looks like it's actually apart of the door. Bummer cause it's on my drivers side and I see it all the time

You can replace the whole part with a new unit, but naturally BMW charges a fairly high price for it and it would require removing the door panel.

However, Amazon sells these covers that pop right on for $30.

Yep, they are! I asked this same question a while back: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1571337

You can get some covers as mentioned above, replace the handle completely which seems to be a bit of a pain, or wrap the handles with leather. I never ended up doing anything with them since I traded the car from that thread, but there are a couple of tutorials on there.

Yeah my car was the same when sold and the new owner did not care a bit.

I tried the covers bought from Amazon but those weren't easy to install and dug into the leather/leatherette(likely to cause damage).

Amazon, Ebay and AliExpress all sell replacements. It's not part of the door liner, but you do have to remove the door liner to remove and replace it.

It's a time consuming fix but not especially difficult. Mr Kies here can even sell you upgraded replacements.

If ur sewing skills are good then leather wrap is doable without removing door panel, but it does cover wood trims.

My current G20 improves on that by getting rid of the wood trim at door handles, plus has soft-touch plastic instead of rubberish coating, so hopefully it won't melt in the current West Coast heat waves!

No worries, the G20 folks have to deal with chipped holes at the high traffic soft-touch plastic, so one solved issue is replaced by another one.

Yeah, it's a pain because they aren't screwed in. You gotta drill out the clips

BMW engineers strongly believed that those are lifetime parts.

And honestly why is melting rubber added on the back side, other than it s carried over from E90!?!?

I bought mine off aliexpress and changed them out in a day. Just follow the tutorial videos available on YouTube. You do need the right tools though like plastic prying tool, pick tools and a few sized torx screwdrivers. All explained in the video.
