F30 335i M Performance Power Kit?
I was considering adding the OEM Performance Power Kit, which adds 20 hp to a 335i and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
thanks http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...3514&perf=true |

That's for the E92/E82, not the F30...
http://realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=11122219489 And there is no F30 equivalent available on that site: http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductLis...=241&perf=true

thanks-- I did not have F30 in my title originally; but I posted in the wrong form and the F30 was added when the post was moved.
I have a 2012 E92 coupe and usually just read the detailing forum |

Then yes. Get it.
Whatever you do, do not read this forum. Because then you'll want to get one of the aftermarket solutions. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58

Stage 1 Performance kit for F30-335i
This kit is now available from Germany through BMW Canada dealers (and presumably BMWNA). It is a software upgrade, offering similar performance to the 335is (+20 HP and + 32 lbs.ft torque for auto trans.). The cost is about $1600 + installation time.
Update 12/13/12: this kit has yet to be released by BMW Canada to its dealers, but "it will be soon".

So...software only then? No added coolers/fans/etc like the previous one?

Is there a part # for the intake silencer yet? I have a BMS stage one sitting under the tree, so I don't need the whole ppk. Wonder how much they'll want for it...

this much is true...but to be fair, it offers the following:
1. Warranty protection (duration of extended warranty too) 2. Probably underrated (typical BMW #'s) 3. Maintains OEM MPG For some, that makes sense. Those that drive leased cars, or use these F30's for daily commutes, need #1 and #3. I'm on the fence since for $400 more, I could get a Dinan tune and "technically" have #1. Unsure if that carries over to 6 years/100k BMW platinum warranties.

^ For $1600 it should at least be somewhat competitive with the marketplace. At 30-40 rated HP this thing becomes much more attractive.

Don't forget the 11% increase in torque (for 8 spd version) which would be felt by the driver !
There is also a new "exhaust silencer" which really is a new air filter that would change the exhaust sound to a burbling sound on deceleration. If you go to BMW's website, click on M Performance and Dynamics, you can hear the exhaust sound. I think this modification would make the M Performance exhaust redundant. Finally, the existing factory warranty remains in effect. Since my previous Post #6 above, my dealer has been informed that the final MSRP and availability date have not yet been confirmed for the Canadian market. January 2013 seems like a good bet at this point. The pricing is likely to be somewhat flexible.

They're going to charge because people will want to keep their warranties, and will get it from a lot of people. It's sad that it's something that should've come with the car as it's really just programming changes, but it's BMW and marketing in general, so people are willing to pay more since it comes from the maker of their car.

As for the estimated price of the Stage 1 M Performance kit, it is essentially the same engine upgrade as offered in the E92-335is. For comparison purposes, in Canada, the 335is Coupe sells for about $7000 more than a standard 335i Coupe !!! That's a big premium for 20 HP and some fancy wheels !!! So if the M Performance kit is priced around $1500, I for one will likely order it, given that it does not alter the factory warranty nor does it apparently affect fuel consumption.

I am also keeping my car for at least 7 to 8 years, but I am not sure if I'll be installing the PPK within the first 4 year when the factory warranty is still active. But then I have blown an engine in my E46 before without any modifications so I guess having the coverage is definitely worth the extra cost for some people. If the price is more reasonable, or there is a way to lower the cost by just getting the core chip without the cosmetic extras, I may go for it.
